Chad on top of NYT website

True story.

One of the bookstores in the Dayton airport has a display comprised soley of books that are Bengal related. Desperate for something to read on my trip home I considered the offerings and noted how Chad's book was marked down to half price. Still, I never gave the idea of a purchase a second thought. Instead, I picked up "Paul Brown - The Rise and Fall and Rise Again of Football's Most Innovative Coach" written by Andrew O'Toole.

Anyways, as I approached the register the gal behind the counter suprised me with a little small talk. "I was hoping you'd by Ocho's book. We can't give 'em away." I laughed and informed her should could give me one if she wanted, but how I wouldn't pay a penny to read the wit and wisdom of Chad. She quickly replied..."Good call. I've read it, and it would be a ripoff even if it was free."

Oh, how we laughed.

So while I stood there pondering the odd chemistry and sexual tension that very cleary existed between me and the bookseller...(ahem)....she took the book from my hands and began to ring up my purchase. "Oh, Paul Brown is it? Well, just keep in mind he was a great coach, but in my opinion Bill Walsh was much better."

So I laughed a little bit more before telling her how funny it can be when women try to discuss football.

Almost immediately the cute little bookseller flashed me the dark look she probably saves for her tortued husband or boyfriend. I quickly responded to her outrage with a dazzling smile and little wink that reminded her of how close I had come to talking her out of her panties. Charmed again, the dark moment passed harmlessly....and we once again laughed like lovers often do. And that's how things remained until I walked away with my treasured non-Chadwickian book.

Anyways, here's the moral to my story.

I could have tapped that.

However, you do have to wonder what would have happened if I would have selected Chad's book instead?

Ehhh?

I think you meant to post that on the Missed Encounters at Craiglist. Here is a link: http://dayton.craigslist.org/cgi-bin/personals.cgi?category=mis

Good luck!

"Paul Brown - The Rise and Fall and Rise Again of Football's Most Innovative Coach" written by Andrew O'Toole.

I read it. The recitations of Paul's seasons at Massilon and at the Browns are mind-numbing. Victory, after victory, after victory. That guy won so much at those two places it is almost hard to believe.

And yet, as I read the book I coudn't help wondering how many Bengal fans would now love to go back in time in an attempt to breath life into the withered corpse of John "Socko" Weithe.

Go Romans!
