What they are saying in New York

He's not technically in NY, but Mike Greenberg has been even more unlistenable than usual this week. What a smarmy f**k he is being. Hey, a**h***, your team is in the playoffs because the Colts quit and the Bengals didn't care about last week's game.

He's got the Jets written into the AFC title game against the Chargers. Seriously.

Aside from the wins against the Colts and Bengals, here are the Jets last few previous wins:

Since October, these are the Jets wins:

@Oakland

Carolina

@Tampa Bay

Buffalo

They have not had a win against a decent team since week 2 against NE.

Take a look at these games:

My sincere hope is that:

1) They wanted the Jets, and elected to half-ass the game plan.

2) They wanted to give Sanchez (false) confidence going into this week

3) Zimmer's bringing the pain to Sanchez this weekend.

That's the best case scenario. Take the Jets' best punch last week since they had to win, figure out what they're about, and come out for Round 2 swinging hard.

If history's any indication, rookie QBs not named Brady don't usually fare so well in the playoffs. Especially when under constant pressure. I'm hoping Zimmer blitzes early and often and makes Dirty Sanchez intimately familiar with the turf at PBS.

Some crowd noise from you locals wouldn't hurt to rattle him either. How's about some false starts and delays of game for the opposition for a change?

The Jets have not won a big game on the road all year.

Here's their road record:

@Houston won 24-7

@New Orleans lost 24-10

@Miami lost 31-27

@Oakland won 38-0

@New England lost 31-14

@Buffalo won 19-13

@Tampa Bay won 26-3

@Indy won 29-15 (Colts layed down)

Why? Sanchez has turned the ball over under pressure on the road in big games.

If the crowd comes out loud and we STOP THEM ON THE FIRST POSSESSION we can completely regain the momentum. Sanchez won't be doing any chest bumps Saturday.

Yes - I will be smacking people in the head if they arent screaming loud enough.

I want to hear post game comments from the Jets saying the crowd had a lot to do with their loss.

Here is an interesting, not-so-flattering but also supportive article on Sanchez and the Jets:

Apparently, they changed their play calling system in week 17 and plan to take it to the post-season. So I'd say CROWD NOISE MATTERS!

(Cheer for me, and for everyone at the Phebes bar in NYC!)

Phebes is great place to watch the games. I used to go there all the time when I lived in Manhattan a couple of years ago.

My best friend is a Jets fan, and he seems to be fairly confident that the game Saturday won't be a blowout, but that they'll be able to impose their will on us... Personally, I don't think they realize how big of a deal Peko and Crocker's return will make.

If we win Saturday I'll be at Phebe's the following week for the Colts game once I get back to NY!

Just sucks that we finally get Peko and Crocker back and we lose Sims and Maualuga.

Jeanty was always known as good against the run, so hopefully he steps up. And hopefully Shaun Smith can do a decent job of replacing Sims.

I would just love to seen what a fully healthy D would look like with Antwan Odom, Maualuga, Sims, and Roy Williams (along with a healthy Tank Johnson). By the way, any word on if they think Odom can recover and be an effective player?

Friends, I have a BAD feeling about this Saturday

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Veterans of this forum know that I am usually an optimist when it comes to the prospects of our favorite team. And I am very optimistic about the long term prospects of this team. But I have a bad feeling about this Saturday for the following reasons;

1. I believe the edge in motivation has swung to the Bengals

When you get to the playoffs both teams are motivated. However I think that the 37-0 smack down woke up the Bengals. Here is where I think playing them in back to back weeks hurts the Jets. It was possible, if the Jets did not play them, that the Bengals may have taken the Jets somewhat lightly. After this up close, beatdown that will not be happening. The Bengals will be ready. They are an emotionaly strong team as they have been through the heartbreak of the deaths of Chris Henry and Mike Zimmer's wife. Look for them to rebound.

2. The Bengals did hold a lot back-including some key players

I do think they played possum in regards to how they were going to attack us both on offense and defense, something the Jets did not have the luxury of doing due to the fact that they needed the win. The Bengals got a first hand scouting report on the Jets. I also think key players like Cedric Bensen were held back and will be fresh. This may show up in the 4th quarter. Also Marvin Lewis coached with Rex Ryan and has a better understanding of what he will try to do then most coaches.

3. In a matchup of evenly matched teams, the Bengals have a pretty big edge at the most important position

I truly think that Sanchez will turn out to be a very good player. But at this moment, in a close game against his buddy, the Bengals own a decided advantage. The Bengals have good CBs and will force the issue and make Sanchez beat them. Long term, this playoff experience will only make Sanchez a better player as he will learn from it. But for this one game, I think the Bengals own a big edge at the most important position.

4. The Bengals are home

Its an obvious edge that the Bengals will enjoy on Saturday.

Overall the jets enjoy some advantages including having a better running game and defense. I also think they are coached a little better (though I think this gets negated somewhat by the fact that they play them two weeks in a row-in effect having two weeks to work on plays specific for THIS game). And this game will be close as the Jets will have their chances to win. But I just think that the Jets are kind of walking into a buzz saw a little bit on the road against an emotionaly tough team. The X factor in this is Mark sanchez who truly is a wild card in this wild card game. I hope I am wrong and the Jets pull it off.
