ArmyBengal Posted January 12, 2010 Report Posted January 12, 2010 I don't know that they had any intention of trying to sign Steinbach because he was asking for more money than Brown was willing to pay.And then he quickly turned around and gave that money to an AGING Willie Anderson, but I digress... walzav29 Posted January 12, 2010 Report Posted January 12, 2010 This is HUGE. Our D is going to be even better next year. Fix the deep ball, and we get to rd 2! Quote

AGrizzlyBaer Posted January 12, 2010 Report Posted January 12, 2010 The first move of the offseason is a good one. Lets hope they keep it up. Quote
walzav29 Posted January 12, 2010 Report Posted January 12, 2010 I have bashed Brown, but our two choices are to follow or not follow the Bengals. I've chosen to follow and you have to admit he has made some good moves. The draft last year was great, he's retaining good coaches, and he is going after free agents. I think we all agree that Ced is working out. Good signs. Quote
gregstephens Posted January 12, 2010 Report Posted January 12, 2010 Here's to Mike Brown once again doing the unexpected by doing the right thing in a very efficient matter of time.(still, however, waiting for PFT to report Graham and Brat have been let go) Quote

walzav29 Posted January 12, 2010 Report Posted January 12, 2010 Now is time to take Bratkowski out fishing. Have him do his hail mary's and whack him. Then get rid of Graham and get a WR, and that will take care of all family business! Quote
icehole3 Posted January 12, 2010 Report Posted January 12, 2010 I can deal with the offensive woes as long as the defense stays intact Quote

Sea Ray Posted January 12, 2010 Report Posted January 12, 2010 This is great news and I certainly do welcome it but it doesn't necessarily mean Zim will be back next year. This doesn't preclude him from taking a head coaching job if it is offered. As for Brat, every day that goes by with him not re-signing is good. If he still isn't re-signed by next week and the Ravens are out of the playoffs then maybe we'll have something... Quote
TJJackson Posted January 12, 2010 Report Posted January 12, 2010 huge move.HUGEthe offseason is off to a ROARING good start! Quote

Kazkal Posted January 12, 2010 Author Report Posted January 12, 2010 1.)I love Zimmer2.)I even live Mike Brown...Now only if he would fire brat....I would not be surprised he ends up as coach. Me neither but at same time no teams have requested to interview him and more and more teams becoming 3-4. Quote
cincyhokie Posted January 12, 2010 Report Posted January 12, 2010 This goes a long way in building not only a better defense, but an identity. A system. A place where players actually will want to come play.HUGE. Quote
walzav29 Posted January 12, 2010 Report Posted January 12, 2010 Our D is not the issue, it's the passing game. Not Palmer by the way. The wide receivers. Quote
gregstephens Posted January 12, 2010 Report Posted January 12, 2010 Our D is not the issue, it's the passing game. Not Palmer by the way. The wide receivers.Wrong. While WRs are part of the issue, Palmer's accuracy concerns were an issue all season, demonstrated greatly in the release issues that prompted high throws throughout Saturday's game. If its the elbow--GET IT FIXED ALREADY!! Quote

It's all of those factors. Can't blame the WRs and not Palmer, nor vice versa. Everybody shoulders the blame. And it's ALWAYS Brat's fault. Quote

If you mean as a head coach somewhere else, I've got my doubts. I simply don't think the interest in Zimmer as a head coach is very serious. Not to mention some of the more acclaimed head coachng talent curently sitting idle but avaialable. Furthermore, while I have no doubt about the interest other teams might have had in Zimmer as a coordinator...I think he likes it here. I think he likes working with Marvin, I think he likes his players, and I think he loves the attention he gets here. I also thinks he likes the challenge and probably feels like the job here isn't done yet. Quote
