ShulaSteakhouse
Stupid idea to push this # wearing jersey idea, quite self-serving and typical attention seeking behavior, to use the tragic death of a teammate, to fuel his war with the NFL.Are the helmet stickers and coach pins and (if it happens) TD celebration not enough? (said he was going to throw the ball "out of the stadium" - referencing Henry throwing the ball way up into the air or something - not sure I remember that).I'm all for recognizing him and the helmet stickers etc..., but Chad needs to back-off and focus on winning the damn game. I know it's a shock to some of those guys who knew him, but don't turn it into a Chad sideshow. A better tribute would be to win the game and for everyone on that team to secure a #2 playoff seed, and shed some light on what has been a rather dark season for that team and the 2 sudden, unexpected deaths they've had to deal with. ShulaSteakhouse
Hello to all. This is my first post, I have been reading this site for several years, and never had anything worth saying, until now. I don't know that it is realistic, but I do believe the Bengals should do something along the lines of what Washington did for Sean Taylor. I was thinking of something along the lines of throwing a deep incomplete pass on the first play. Anyway, RIP #15.I'm not trying to be crass or overly sarcastic, but I'm not sure anyone could tell the difference between doing that purposely and actually trying to complete a long pass this year. Kazkal
I can recall there being such talk about fans bringing money to the game to pay for Chad's next fine for a celebration last year.Well, to see Chad actually wear Henry's jersey knowing he would get a hefty fine, I would be more than happy to bring some cash to donate to that cause.Well I could see a Suspension if he wore a Jersey not his otherwise if it's just a fine players may think why not...Though depends on the case this is simply honoring a teammate & FriendStupid idea to push this # wearing jersey idea, quite self-serving and typical attention seeking behavior, to use the tragic death of a teammate, to fuel his war with the NFL.Yes that's his only reason Shula,I try and not knock on other members of this forum but could you be more of a ass?Are the helmet stickers and coach pins and (if it happens) TD celebration not enough? Dimster28
i dont care what chad do this sunday, all i care about is bengals work hard and go for superbowl champ so they can present chris henry parent a superbowl ring that chris henry supposed to get. to show that he is still part of team. semiotter
PFT mentioned that chad wanted to wear it for this sundays game but the no fun league has already quashed it :/,Really a shame and agree with PFT under special circumstances they should bend the rules...it's not like Ocho is trying to drive up his jersey sales but simply honoring his friend.Well knowing Chad he will do it anyway or wear a #15 under his other jersey and show it if he scores a TD. Has he ever listened to what the NFL has told him? Don't think so... Chad is going to do something... But we aren't sure what that something is going to be.... I don't think Marv will allow chad to wear Slims jersey on Sunday...I was going to say he may not listen to the NFL, but he will listen to Marvin, and i dont think Marvin will allow him to do anything. I just wonder if Chad will be ok on Sunday if his head will be in the game or not. Whatever happens i think it was a great thought from Chad, and it shows how much he really cared about Slim.I doubt Marvin will let him wear #15, but I wouldn't be at all surprised to him wearing the black visor or something of that nature.Marv will handle it correctly... If anything happens, Chad will have Slims jersey either on under his 85 or on the side lines...Also, about the visor, you need permission from the NFL to wear the black out visor. ArmyBengal
Jesus people, I'm not saying he SHOULD wear the jersey, simply saying if he did, it would be something I would gladly shell over some dough for when he got fined for it.That being said, I don't think it will happen... Ickey44
As far as the visor thing goes, Chad took a pretty good shot to the face last week. Maybe it's more for protection than anything else. As far as wearing Slim's jersey, I'm really getting fed up with the NFL and their opposition to individualism. People mentioned Chris Redmon being denied to wear the black cleats when Unitas died. I know the Peyton wore them anyway and paid the fine. I would have no problem with Chad or anyone else wearing Slim's jersey this weekend. And no, Shula, it's not enough. My wife's brother committed suicide three years ago and she still wears his shirts as a way to remember him. Everyone deals with grief differently and you have no place to decide or to judge how these players grieve.I really don't know what the issue is with the jersey. They let every Redskins player in the Probowl wear #27 in honor of Taylor that year. What would be the problem with letting one player do it for one game this Sunday? Goodell's an ass. gregstephens
Goodell's an ass.Well, yeah, but what do you expect from a commish that fines a guy 10 or 15 grand (whichever it was) for punching an opposing player, and fines Fredo 30 grand for wearing a hat on the sideline??!!I'm not a Fredo guy, but I do recognize the disproportionate nature of Fredo fines compared to serious things other guys do on the field. Some of these fines are starting to get ridiculous. Mangina got lambasted for fining 1700 for not paying for a water, but how is what Goodell's been doing any different? This is a league of individual's and he expects them to all act the same? How ludicrous.
Kazkal
I just don't like fact people act like it's chad is doing whats best for chad when it's obvious Chris was his friend & Deserves benefit of the doubt.Hell this is Chargers week and he was supposed to be having a twitter War with Merriman but since Chris was njured he hasn't mentioned anything besides Chris. Cmon. I don't think I'm being an ass at all - you're just thinking emotionally and not logically - nothing I can do about that holmes.I am exhausted and embarrased as a fan, of Chad's props and stunts, this isn't the WWF and I respect the sport, maybe he should as well, since it's made him who he is and very rich. Here's an idea Chad - quit committing false start penalties every week and worry about that instead of wearing ponchos and sombreros when you score a TD against the league's worst team, then get beat like a drum by other playoff teams the next week.He can honor Henry appropriately, but he doesn't need to do it as some sort of vendetta he has against the league, who for good reason does not allow him to do whatever he wants, when he wants. Why should he get special privelages? Let him do that, and the league becomes the WWF and we start seeing Rick Flair bribing refs and clowns pouring buckets of water on opponents like the Harlem Globetrotters.Sorry but I don't blame the NFL for fining the crap out of Chad and limiting his antics, they're stupid, and he's just using this tragic situation to further his agenda - which I can't stand. You can't see past your own bias to notice that Chad isn't trying to get attention or anything. He's not said anything about it except to ask the league if he could do it. He's not all over the news promoting what he's going to do to honor Slim. You obviously don't remember all the Redskins players wearing Sean Taylor's number at the Probowl and all the Bronco players pissed because the weren't allow to wear Darrent Williams' number. All those guys must've been attention whores, too, huh?As far as you being embarrassed with the things Chad does.........why? Who's he hurting? He's not drawing flags for what he's doing. It doesn't bother the team. What's your beef?

derekshank
I don't know 100% what Chad's motives are, but he seemed to be showing genuine emotion... so I don't think he's being intentionally self serving.I also just heard on ESPN that the NFLPA is offering to pay any fines Chad will receive for wearing #15. Not sure if that means Chad will do it or not though.
Dimster28
if he does, i hope nfl will suspensed him instead of fine him. i know his being suspensed will hurt us but have to.u guys can think that he wear a jersey with #15 on it is nothing, it is nothing to me, we know who he is, but think of kids who just start watch football and they know him as 85 not name, u think they wont be confused with wrong number??? BengalPimp
If he wants to honor Chris Henry, the best way to do it is, after he scores, get a Henry Jersey, and just start running down the sidelines, holding it up for the fans..... Passepartout
Guy is a great WR but really he is a cancer to the team. And that I am surprised he hasn't been cut. As the Bengals are keeping him for some strange reason.

ArmyBengal
Can't see why they don't cut Chad ?? Really ?? As much as I've been harsh on his antics, cutting him has never been part of the equation for me. Trading him when we had the chance ?? Yeah, I was all for that, but that has come and gone. That and now he happens to be the only receiving option this team has, so getting rid of him would really just be stupid.I also saw the blurb on EPSN's bottomline about the NFLPA being willing to pay whatever fine Chad were to incur for wearing the #15 jersey this Sunday.I think the bigger concern would be would the league even allow him to take the field were he to sport the jersey ??In my opinion, I have no issue with him wearing the #15 jersey. It would have his name on it, which would look funny, but no, no issue.I really can't believe people are having this big of an issue with it at all. Maybe they've never lost someone close...
