HoTbOy
he doesn't have much speed.Per http://www.nfldraftscout.com/ratings/dsprofile.php?pyid=80694&draftyear=2009&genpos=rb4.44 40 at the CombineI was gonna say he looked pretty damn fast on that kick return. You were reading my mind, I thought the same thing... semiotter
I think he just needs the chance. I love what Ced has done, and I don't think that B. Scott could take that type of beating. But I think this week he'll show that he is one hell of an explosive back. I predict he goes over 130 yds.Dude you hitting the Crack pipe? walzav29
No sir. I am not hitting the crack pipe. I am telling you. This dude is gonna be great. We'll see after Sunday I suppose. Barry Sanders Height: 5-8 Weight: 200 Bernard Scott | #28 | RB Cincinnati Bengals | Official Team SiteHeight: 5-10 Weight: 200 Is he Barry? Absolutely not, but I don't buy this size argument. Maurice Jones-Drew Height: 5-7 Weight: 208Warrick Dunn. Height: 5-9 Weight: 187DeAngelo Williams Height: 5-9 Weight:

This new found way of thinking that some backs are "change of pace" backs seems a bit off when it comes to B. Scott. How the hell do we know he can't be a featured back? This reminds me of the pitch count philosophy in baseball. While pitch counts do have bearing on a pitchers long term performance, weren't pitchers pitching every 4 days 20-30 years ago? What changed? More than likely just the fact on how we view the game has changed and like you said if we're talking about Barry Sanders this discussion is moot. Some of these strategies and schemes seem to be self fufilling.

But the best RB on this team is Cedric Benson, given the plays they run, offensive scheme and needs. Scott could start on many NFL teams though. Also one thing that is looked past is he is 25. One year younger than Cedric. So, you've got that as well. He has mileage from all his stops in JC and I-AA.As for a 100 yard race, DeSean would smoke these guys at that distance. Heck, Quan ran down Scott during the kick return. Scott and Harvin would be close at the 40 and 60 yard marks though.

The man is taking one to the house on a return this year. I'm guessing it comes in the next 3 games.

I would say that Bernards speed is right with these guys. On the return he slowed downed to make a move on the kicker and slowed down at the end to either avoid the tackle from a diver or he ran out of gas from running about 150 yards while breaking tackles. Bernard has great speed if not elite and he showed it in st. louis by getting the first down down the sideline. He is also a patient runner and don't just run into a pile. He finds his crease and hits it. Ahmad Bradshaw ran a 4.55 40 and he is considered one of the best change pf speed backs in the NFL.

I was saying Barry's size was comparable and he was a featured back. Barry is a legend. I'm not comparing anything but the size......... For now. I understand there needing to be a baseline for evaluation concerning speed. Like you said with Bradshaw, dude runs a 4.55 and is really fast. Gametime fast. The ability to cut, use vision, and accelerate all added with straight line speed make up what we see on the field. Scott has it and so does Quan.
