KitnasBengals Posted July 1, 2004 Report Posted July 1, 2004 Your right, this is a joke. How on earth is Mcnabb and Koy Detmer better than Favre and Couch? I think Mcnabb is better than Couch, but in terms of passing ability and actual production and when you factor in Couch's abysmal Browns teams they are nearly equal. Which leaves Detmer and.. Favre. Ridicolous. Did they also forget that Gannon hasn't even played well in a year? Quote
Turi Posted July 1, 2004 Report Posted July 1, 2004 That list might as well have had the Ratbirds on top - that's how credible it was. Quote
Barbarian Posted July 1, 2004 Report Posted July 1, 2004 I have to say this too--Donovan McNabb is one word:OVERRATED!!!!!And I'm going to love watching the Eagles fall apart this year when Crybaby Owens and their dumbassed fans start bitching. The Eagles don't have a running game. Their defense is suspect. Donovan McNabb's arm is inaccurate. I don't know how many times I saw him bouncing the ball off the turf on short passes. When are these analysts going to learn that these "RUNNING QBs" are all overrated??? I don't know who's more overrated, Michael Vick or Donovan McNabb. Rush Limbaugh may have said it ignorant--but he was right about McNabb.Another question--THE PANTHERS ARE 4TH????? With Delhomme being a flash in the pan--and Rodney Peete and Chris Weinke backing him up??? I think the Panthers' QBs are wayyyyyyyy overrated here. They should be 15th.Indy at 10??? Payton Manning alone should make the top 5. Quote
Kirkendall Posted July 1, 2004 Report Posted July 1, 2004 This is why I hate football specialize reporters, writers during the off-season because they are bored and over-analyize EVERYTHING. Just report what's going on, don't give us some garbage about a complete teams position players... I usually stay away from these type of articles. Good stuff though Billy, you're sure to fire up a reaction among the community. Quote
kitared Posted July 1, 2004 Report Posted July 1, 2004 OHHHHHHH BROTHERI see I need to go buy you guys stock in HATERADEOhhhh, you guys are lucky I don't have a lot of time.....Gannon was the leading passer in 2002 regular season with 4689 yards which NO ONE was able to accomplish in 2003....the highest was Manning with 4267! And the reason he didn't get to show and prove in 2003 is because he got hurt early in the season!! Let's see MVP of the 2002..... Pro Bowl MVP 2000 & 2001!!Tui, hasn't had much time to play...but he will be a beast out on that field as soon as he gets playing time!!But I guess with QB's like Kitna and Palmer I would be a hater too!! I'll be back later........ Quote
KitnasBengals Posted July 1, 2004 Report Posted July 1, 2004 Who cares about Pro Bowl MVP? Those aren't real games.Gannon hasn't done ANYTHING in over a year including his AWFUL embarrassment in the Super Bowl. Getting an injury is no excuse... staying injury free is one of the marks of a good quarterback. And Kitna had a career year while Gannon and the raiders were tanking it, Palmer is the heisman trophy winner.EDIT: Wanted to add that I agree totally with Barbarian, I am so sick of the endless ass kissing running quarterbacks get. Kirkendall Posted July 1, 2004 Report Posted July 1, 2004 Gannon is the beneficiary of the Gruden offense. Evidence? Look at his numbers during his 15 year career; without Gruden, he's NOTHING. He's the product of the system, and not the main focus for a system. Also, yards in one season doesn't make you a championship caliber player. Look at Marino, the all-time yardage leader AND single season yardage record holder.. he has as many Super Bowl appearances and as many Super Bowl wins as Gannon.. I guess winning the big one isn't the priority for both Gannon and Marino.Trust me, I like Gannon, he was playing in Minnesota while I was rooting for both he and Salisbury at the ol' Metrodome. I just really think the Bengals have the better combined QBs than the Raiders. Not to piss you off or anything, I just really believe that. Quote

BengalDave73 Posted July 2, 2004 Report Posted July 2, 2004 You know this offseason has been the longest to me since the 90 season.I have had time to think about the QB situation here over and over again.I really wish Carson well,I do but I still think this should be Jon's team.I know most of you do not agree with this but I still find it hard to swallow the fact that We have a comeback player of the year, missed the pro bowl by this much and had a one hell of a year. With that said-Let's get this season going and young number 9 a damn ring while 71 and 3 are still here. Quote

I always thought that despite kitna's shortcomings that he had enuf skills to be effective but more importantly he was extremely well liked by his team mates, and I thought that would be one of the cornerstones of making the Bengals into a contender, a good attitude and locker room.I think starting Palmer is as much a PR move as his potential. I'm sure Marvin knows about Mcnair and his sitting and while he is overrated (especially his toughness. give it a rest already...) he certainly isn't a bust and has been a good quarterback. Quote

OMFG! http://msn.foxsports.com/id/2491416 The article is about not only having a good QB, but good backup QB's!!!So which teams are best positioned to not just survive, but flourish at quarterback in 2004? For the purposes of our rankings, the goal for every team is to find two, if not three, guys with plenty of experience. A great starting QB alone is most important, but a lack of solid backups can mean a big dropSeeing that we have 3 QB's with plenty of experience, gives us a better chance. Gannon, Collins, Tui! And if those 3 get hurt we at least still have Martin & the new guy Engemann!!Kirkendell...................your QB line up is no comparasion to ours... Palmer, who has yet to play a game in the NFL!! Kitna who has an average of like 58 and has thrown almost as many ints (98) as he has TD's (103)... And who the f*ck is Casey & Scott?! If Kitna and Palmer gets hurt......Bengals are done!! Kitna is the only one with the holding you guys together!! I know it is a 3 day weekend, but at least let the sun go down before you guys get drunk!! Quote
jditty47 Posted July 2, 2004 Report Posted July 2, 2004 2 points.1) Gannon = done. Hes like warner. Collins = best option, u guys need to start him, solid QB but nothing spectacular, otherwise he wont win any games for u with his arm/on his own. Tui = sucks balls. 2) I disagree with all of u that think kitna should be the starter. Kitna's career year still got us only 8-8. Palmer has a career year it could be a 14-2 year potentially and a solid year would be 8-8. Kitna reached his peak, he will never have a year like that...even if he does it wont be better than it. I like kitna, but I also see potential when i see it. I knew akili would suck when we drafted him, he was the worst "black" qb of the decade and i predicted it b4 we took him, bad pick and i knew it when it happened. Our team was in such disarray when we went into that draft. Palmer has all the genetics of a good QB, the preperation, the skill, the arm, the strength, the ability, etc. He has exactly what Peyton has, but has yet to have a chance. He cant be peyton sittin on the bench. Kitna cant be like Peyton, the best he can be is like Hoffstetler or whatver it was for the Giants. K im running out of points on why palmer should start over kitna. There are millions though. Quote
kitared Posted July 2, 2004 Report Posted July 2, 2004 K im running out of points on why palmer should start over kitna. There are millions though. Maybe he should play a game or 2 and then you can tell if he actually has starting potential. I just can't see starting a QB that hasn't been out on an NFL field yet! He has to show and prove. And tell me why do you think Tui sucks?! Quote

Kitna is the only one with the holding you guys together!! I know it is a 3 day weekend, but at least let the sun go down before you guys get drunk!! By your reasoning the Raiders most certainly don't have the best posse of quarterbacks in the NFL. Go by experience? Brett Favre, Doug Pederson and Tim Couch... if you can't see that those 3 are by far the best you need some sharp glasses indeed, either that or wipe away your Raider bias So the article is still flawed, and I noticed you are using Kitna's career statistics instead of last year. The NFL is about what have you done for me lately? Neither Collins (who at least has an excuse) nor Gannon has done anything lately:Kitna completed 62% of his passes for 3591 yards, 26 TDs, 15 INTs, and a 87.4 rating.Gannon completed 55.6% of his passes for 1274 yards, 6 TDs, 4 INTs, for a 73.5 rating. He played in 7 games Quote

To parade around your historical achievements compared to our lackluster team for anything successful?Ummm, yeah that would be the plan!! It's really sad when teams like the Raiders and their obvious downward spiral to concrete engineers in the basement goes unnoticed. We have one bad season after a SB lost and now we are on a "downward spiral" Come on Kirk I know you have a little bit more football knowledge than that! When your starting QB goes down, and in the next game your secondary QB gets hurt, and more than half of your starters are on the bench. I would not expect to have a winning season. Oh did I fail to mention the "Dumbest Coach in the History of the NFL"? You can continue to remind me that we had a VERY BAD season last year, just as much as I can continue to remind you that.......the only ring the Bengals have is the one around the toilet. It sucks Kit, it really does. Embrace it.......LOL..........that is the funniest thing I have seen you post. One bad season and you want to compare our franchise to the Bengals?! I guess you can see into the future huh? You can't be at all serious. I have all ready accepted the fact that we had a horrible season. The only thing I will be embracing in 2005 is the lovely dinner that Bengal Dave will be serving up!!Bengal fans sure are cocky to not have a WINNING SEASON in about 16 years!! Quote
