Clackwoods
Reading the RotoWorld fantasy football preview magazine last night reminded me of something.../>http://www.bengalslocker.com/2008/02/29/the-cincinnati-bengals-acquire-dt-shaun-rogers-from-the-lions/It lists the key player from each team on offense and defense. It listed Shaun Rodgers as the Browns key player on Defense. How much better would our defense be if we had that man beast in the middle clogging up running lanes? Would we rather have him and his fat new contract or Michael Johnson (The pick we would have given up?) IMO It hurts to think that we almost had him on our team and then let him go. In all honesty the fact that we didn't trade for a big time DT last year is a little disheartening, (Jenkins, Rodgers, Stroud) especially since all three of those guys had a huge impact on their teams defense. I like the potential that Johnson shows, but to miss out on a 28 year old pro bowl DT just makes me shake my head.

Rodgers wouldn't have made that big a difference last year anyway. We still would've lost all those games.I'm happy with what we've got now in Sims, Peko, and Tank. We're fine at DT. cincy9275
i think it's a blessing in disguise. i would rather have sims, tank and johnson. if we would have signed shaun then the players i named would not be bengals. sims really boosted our run D last season. tank was regarded as a top tackle until he though he was tony montana. then johnson has way more potential to help this defense in more ways that shaun ever could. we lucked out by not signing another malcontent to further poison this locker room. then where was shaun when ced put up 171 on that D? then did his trade to the clowns make them a better defense, nope. but sims replacing thorton did help improve ours to the tune of a top 15 ranking. ArmyBengal
If we want to stay in the line of "what if", what if we had switched to a 3-4 and had Rivers, Thurman, Maualuga, and Pollack as a linebacking corps ??Anyway...

Unfortunately, Thurman is a drunk and Pollack broke his neck. Also, if we still had those two we wouldn't have drafted Rivers or Rey. I personally would much rather have the Corps we have now. TJJackson
Wait....can I play this 'what if' game?let's see, if I had a third ball nestled snugly between righty and lefty, I could have starred in a low budget sci-fi themed porno film called "E. TJ. the Extra-Testicle.and the glowing tip would not have been the tip of my finger......and that would not have been a bicycle I'd have been riding through the night sky.....(now - wasn't that imagery sooooOOOOO much better than the 'seduce marge schott' scenario proposed on another thread? or does yet another keyboard and monitor need to be purchased?) jonahdsage
Oh this game is fun. I think I like our current situation than all the "what ifs" posted thus far (especially the E.T. testicle thing . . . thanks for nothin'). Now a "what if" that gets me excited is having the Deltha O'Neil in '05 form on this team as the 3rd DB. JJoe and Leon as starters, Deltha in the Nickel, with duke and williams as safeties? Now that's a dirty secondary . . .

You could sit there forever going on about possibilities but in the end it doesn't change anything. ITS PRESEASON, their isn't much more to talk about other than What if's and what could becomes. What if's are more exciting to talk about than what could have been.
