whizzo
per NFL.com:The St. Louis Rams have released veteran WR Torry Holt in a move that was expected –- and desired by Holt. The Rams cut Holt, a 10-year veteran and fan favorite, on Friday afternoon, four days before he was due a $1.25 million roster bonus. The move creates nearly $8 million in salary-cap room for the Rams.St. Louis tried to trade Holt but had no takers.http://blogs.nfl.com/2009/03/13/rams-release-wr-holt/
DesperateDerelict
Does this mean St. Louis might draft Crabtree?? Very interesting!!!
whizzo
well, what other recievers of note do they have? that kid avery perhaps... according to last year's depth chart, he's their only WR under 30 ( ). so crabtree might appeal to them. however, they released Pace as well, and i think replacing him will take priority. spagnuolo's gonna depend on steven jackson and the running game to win. TJJackson
Let's all pray they take Crabtree so that Son-of-a-Genius then cannot.
whizzo
never. OL is more important to spagnuolo and his run-oriented offense than a WR.
BengalPimp
Let's all pray they take Crabtree so that Son-of-a-Genius then cannot.I actually wouldnt mind that at all. granted we have MUCH BIGGER NEEDS, but that dude's gonna be a big time player for many years. whizzo
for crying out loud, we don't need any damned recievers!!! we drafted two last year!
jeanoroid
If they could move Chad for at least a late 1st rounder Crabtree would be more appealing at #6 - then steal Mack before The Steelers pick, then go pass-rush in the 2nd..Of course guys like Holt and Marvin being out there is gonna equal a whole lot less interest in Ocho.. ArmyBengal
Completely SOLD on Maclin over Crabtree. I'll keep saying it. People can keep disagreeing, but such is life. And with all of that, I don't want a WR in the 1st...
Whur CHad At?
So you say a guy who wins The Biletnikoff Award two years in a row(the only player to do so) is not very good.laughAnd don't tell me it is because of the spread offense they both f**king run the same offense. ArmyBengal
So you say a guy who wins The Biletnikoff Award two years in a row(the only player to do so) is not very good.laughAnd don't tell me it is because of the spread offense they both f**king run the same offense.Wow, no need to get so defensive ?? I merely stated I would prefer Maclin do the the fact he would provide this team more than Crabtree would from the start. That would give us Chad, Coles, Henry, Simpson, Caldwell, and Crabtree to start. Crabtree doesn't unseat any of the first 3 named and could prove to have difficulty in unseating Caldwell and Simpson seeing as they have a year in the system. That's just a fact.Maclin provides immediate production in the return game, which is one of the biggest holes on this team. The thing about Maclin is he's the perfect fit with as many WR's as we have. He can produce in the return game while learning more about the system. Crabtree doesn't bring that to the table. I also don't know where you get I said that Crabtree isn't that good. I never said that.Yes, they both played in a spread or other type of offense that plays to bulking their numbers. It goes both ways when making the arguement. By the way, I never made that arguement, you did.Laugh all you want, it's my opinion. Want to talk about some other award he won that will help him produce in his rookie year ??
Whur CHad At?
The Biletnikoff Award has a pretty good history- Larry Fitz, Braylon Edward, Antonio Bryant, and Calvin Johnson are just some of the names who have won. All produced thier rookie years.
ArmyBengal
Thanks for addressing how he's going to produce on this team when I brought up who's going to be on the roster. Can he produce in his rookie year ?? Of course. There's no reason to think he won't, but on this team, it will be limited. It's not as easy to simply say he better than Simpson, Caldwell, or Henry. It's a guess. Simpson and Caldwell have a year ahead of the game on him within the system and Henry can spread the field better than Crabtree can. Caldwell goes over the middle can Crabtree doesn't. Simpson may be the only one he can unseat, but I would put them on even ground at this point and Simpson was hurt for the majority of the season. ArmyBengal
If you want to argue about the Biletnikoff, there are other names that can be mentioned as well:2005 Mike Hass2002 Charles Rogers1999 Troy Walters1998 Troy Edwards1996 Marcus HarrisStellar huh ?? Awards don't make better NFL players. They are nice, but are FAR from determining success at the next level.
Whur CHad At?
Crabtree better than Simpson, I just dont see why everyone is so sold on him? He was a fifth rounder project at best. BUST BUST BBBBBBBBUUUUUUSSSSSTTTTTT kind of like Matt Jones(who I was the only one on this f**king forumm who said he was going to be a bust after all you rode his nuts because of his 40 time).
