Chad I am with you on this, but I am fixated on Crabtree and I don't care what anyone has to say about it.....He would be here the rest of Carson's career and now with Coles here we could do what Detroit did with Calvin Johnson. He could be the number 2 receiver and ease in until he is ready to dominate in year 2. How many people in here would rather have Calvin Johnson than Leon Hall? I would much rather have Calvin and be talking about drafting a CB to start in round 2.

Fast forward 2 years from now and think, who would you rather have a Calvin Johnson talent at WR and still looking for a pass rusher (That may or may not pan out if picked this year) or a PassRusher that will improve our defense, but then we are stuck with a 33 year old Coles and a 32 year old Chad Johnson and a young Caldwell and a bust in Simpson. Then we are talking about taking a number one receiver at around 15-25 which presents a much greater bust rate.

Hopefully you can see my logic!

It's not as easy as saying "who would you rather have". Calvin Johnson would be great, but we didn't need him and had a GREAT need for Leon Hall. Surely you can't say you were upset with that pick when looking at our secondary. Hall has given solidity to the secondary on a level that Calvin Johnson couldn't have provided the WR corps "at that time".

As for your other question about getting a pass rusher ?? Yeah, go ahead and give me the pass rusher and call our defense well into the top 10 that can win games for us as opposed to a WR that gives us nothing in the return game and will be very lucky to unseat any of the top 3 WR's currently on the roster in Chad, Coles, or Henry. Sure the DE may or may not pan out, but that can be said about ANY player being drafted. ANY PLAYER CAN BUST and none of them are sure fire. NONE.

Repeat again and again....until you are dead.

"We are the bastard sons of Paul Brown, and we WILL throw the ball around the yard, no matter the cost, because it's who we are, it's what we do, and gosh darnit....it sells tickets."

Again, another hypothetical situation. I was estatic when Hall dropped all the way to 16 when we got him. I remember a lot of guys had him as the number one CB available and he is a very high character guy. My point was, I would much rather have a Larry Fitz/Calvin Johnson type YOUNG WR on the team in two years than some half way decent pass rusher. With the being said I love Orakpo and I have been touting him for a long time.

But what if that pash rusher is maybe DeMarcus Ware (Brown) or Shawne Merriman (SD)? If you remember, it was Merriman that helped change the identity of the Chargers defense, which in turn transformed them from a pretty good team to a Championship-contending team. I'm not saying that either player is surefire to be special, but the better value is at DE/OLB. I believe that any capable receiver can put on great numbers in our offense and Coles will prove that this year. You have the think the Bengals believe they have future big-time performers in Caldwell and Simpson. The last WR that really underachieved here over the last several seasons, minus any notable injuries, is Kelley Washington.

I think we're only a pash rusher away from being a Top 8-10 unit on defense. Imagine what Nduke, Hall and Joseph could do with a pash rush on 3rd downs.

First off, those are LB's in a 3-4 defense which we don't use. I would love to get Orakpo, I was simply defending the selection of Crabtree. I was also saying that I would like to see him in stripes (Spelling the end of CJ, who I also like).

If Raji is their and he is great then we should take him, I would love to have what Minnesota has and what Jacksonville used to have. They both run 4-3s and they employ two dominant DT's. (Sims and Raji)

I want to see on of the following next season: Jason Smith, Michael Crabtree, Brian Orakpo, BJ Raji at six and Knowshown Moreno, Rey Rey in the middle of the first and Clay Matthews at the end of the first.

Obviously the second set would be possibilities if we traded down and the second and third would be if we traded Chad.

Yeah, I pretty much agree with that. I was thinking that Raji thought earlier today but it would all depend on what the Bengals REALLY think about Sims and Shirley. Peko is solidly entenched at one of the starting spots along the line but how about him at LE on rushing downs? Marvin said he thinks he might've "hit a homerun" with Shirley, so if Raji's the pick, we all know he was blowing smoke. I'd love to have a stout defense and think about how Pat Williams completely changed the Vikings defense and made a very good Kevin Williams (Peko or maybe Shirley) virtually unblockable.

Had a drink already, but I'm trying to figure out how a team would be able to run on a Peko, Sims/Shirley, Raji, Odom/Geathers rotation. Let alone how a fresh Odom/Geathers combination in the 4th quarter would be.

Not with Carson Palmer having to run for his life snap after snap because the offensive line can't give him time in the pocket.

I'm not sure how Geathers and Odom are going to be fresh if the only rotation involved is with the DT position. Now, if you bring back Thornton and draft Orakpo... now your talking about fresh D-linemen.
