HoosierCat
What, you expected him to be happy about the prospect of getting cut? Nothing surprising, or even particularly nasty, in his remarks, IMHO.
BengalszoneBilly
Screw him. If he'd had done his job better, he wouldn't be looking at this situation at all. He got his butt run over so many times it was pathetic! So did the rest of the ineffective d-line of last year to boot!

Kirkendall
I'm not worried about it.. Note to Williams -- THERES A REASON WHY WE'RE TRYING TO GET GARDNER YOU DUMBASS!(I wonder if he got the message)
HoosierCat
final words uttered from a DEAD MAN WALKING I wouldn't bet money on that, chrish. Even if they sign Gardener -- and it's starting to look like that isn't going to happen -- there's clearly too much concern about his health to afford cutting Tony. The Brew Man
Yeah, I dont think they cut Tony. But, whats his problem? So there is some competition for the job, boy it sucks to have to be pushed doesnt it Tony? By, the way, what does his former teammates have to do with anything? Im wondering how Marvin handles this one.....
Barbarian
Wow. Right off, he drops the F-Bomb. I love it!!!I've read that story before--with Lee Johnson, Carl Pickens, Corey Dillon, etc.--another disgruntled player.I just hope for his sake that he didn't sign the Pickens Clause. Vulture
Please...and you expected him to be happy that he might be replaced...maybe this will light a fire under his butt!!Perform or leave
Tampa Bengal
Yeah and the sad thing is that Lewis was just talking about how there wouldn't be a distraction this year.http://www.bengals.com/Willams is a beoych. He doesn't get it, so what if you played for the Vikqueens. What does that prove? If he were so good they he would still be playing for them. Why would they let good talent walk? What an idiot. Does he think his spot is a lock. I say cut him now before he becomes the new Dillon!
JPW
The guy is worried about his job and is a bit upset. He started all 16 games last year and thinks that he is better than people are giving him credit for.GOOD.....let him Prove it.If anybody noticed.... The Bengals released rookie free agent defensive tackle Mondre Dickerson of Tennessee yesterday.ML had made some very positive comments about how good Dickerson looked in camp last month. And now he is cut two days before they can even see now he does with "pads" on.I think that cut, is an indication that they are planning on keeping Williams.I think The Plan is a rotation of : Gardener, Thornton, Williams and Askew. This is not "the F-Bomb"....The guy is upset at losing his job as a starter and is worried about even having a job at all after this year.Well..... What was the name of that Dumb-Ass who Coached the old Houston team, Jerry Glandville or some s**t ?Anyway he was a jerk but he got one thing right: NFL = NOT FOR LONG.Williams Should have kept his mouth shut and just Tried to Prove his worth on the Field. So he lost it and Blew Off some steam....big deal. And as much as you Love DRAMA Barbarian.....I don't think that you can group him with Lee Johnson, Carl Pickens and Corey Dillon based on this one out-burst.Did you read the part where Williams said "My decision is staying healthy and being in the best shape of my career" and "I'm going to be helping this team to win whether I'm in there or whether I'm on the sideline rooting the guys on" ?Those are not the kind of remarks that I remember hearing from Dillon & Co.Williams has been an "ok" player for us.But a guy like Gardener could make the whole DL Better.ML has to do what is best for The Team.If Williams thinks that he can Step Up his Play.Find.....Show us what Ya Got.Competition can be a good thing and can push everybody to play better.Williams needs to accept that change is just part of The Deal in the NFL.Look at now many players sign for Hugh $$$$, but never see the money for the last years of The Contract.Williams will have to adjust to his new role on the Team.If he doesn't, I say bring the kid from Tennessee back in.Mondre DickersonThe Bottom Line is, Production Talks and Bull-s**t Walks. Tony Williams salary for the 2004 season ( His last by the way ) is 2.2 million . * Marvin Lewis credo is " If you're paid to start, and you don't, then you're outta' here ! "- Marvin also said he wanted to get Langston Moore, last years 6th round pick a chance. Let's look at the numbers.Tony Williams 29 turning 30 this year. 8th season in the NFL from Memphis U. Never had more than 5 sacks or 50 tackles in a single season. He's played next to future Hall of famers in Chris Doleman and John Randle, yet never took advantage of it with all-pro like numbers. Brought to Cincinnati to improve quickness up front but is only 6-2 292lbs. Langston Moore Second year pro from South Carolina, credited with 2 sacks last preseason and several stops behind the line. 6-1 303 lbs. Dominant run blocker in the SEC. Not much of a pass rush threat, but plays with good leverage, and forces most runs east and west...(sporting-news).I want to see what the kid can do. If Gardener becomes a NO-show or has injuries, this is a guy that's gonna stick around anyways !

If Gardener becomes a NO-show or has injuries, this is a guy that's gonna stick around anyways ! Williams' salary isn't an issue. They only guy they are apparently interested in is Gardener, and the way his reported deal is structured, they can afford to sign him without needing to create cap space.Lewis just said on bengals.com that he's "very confident" that Tony will be a part of this team this year and have a great season.Even if Gardener does sign, and they keep Williams on, Moore will still have his shot. It isn't as if we're flush with DTs. After Gardener, Williams, and Thornton, we have Moore and McCleary (a combined five seasons on the sidelines) and the rook Askew. I see Moore taking over the relief/run-stuffing-specialist role vacated by Steele.Absent a pro bowl season, I agree that Williams won't be resigned after this year.
