Clackwoods
I would like to hear your opinions on the upcoming NFL FA. I am attaching the link for the upcoming FA's. I think we should only cover our own key FA's as well as the major FA's available. Please predict where you think each will go and we will revisit this after the signings and see who was the most accurate.http://insider.espn.go.com/nfl/fa?&act....com%2fnfl%2ffaOFFENSEQB- JP Losman- San Fransico 49ers Byron Leftwhich- Pitt Steelers (Backup) Kyle Orton- Chicago Bears Kurt Warner- Arizona Cardinals Jeff Garcia- New York Jets Chris Simms- Buffalo Bills (Backup)RB- Kevin Jones- Chicago Bears Darren Sproles- Cincy Bengals Cedric Benson- Cincy Bengals Fred Jackson- New York Giants Derrick Ward- Kansas City ChiefsWR- TJ Whosyourmamma- Philly Eagles Devery Henderson- Cincy Bengals Amani Toomer- Seattle Seahawks Mike Furrey- Oakland Raiders Bobby Engram- Retirement Marty Booker- Tampa Bay Antonio Bryant- OaklandTE- Owen Daniels- Texans Bo Scaife- Atlanta Falcons Jim Kleinsasser- Seattle Seahawks Leonard Pope- CardinalsP/K- Shayne Graham- Cincy Shane Lechler- Washington Redskins Mike Nguget- I am guessing here but I will say JacksonvilleOL- Stacy Andrews-Cincy Matt Birk- St Louis Jason Brown- Cincy Bengals Jeff Saturday- Baltimore Ravens Jordan Gross- Panthers Tre Thomas- Philly John Runyan- Jacksonville Mark Taushcher- Houston Texans Mike Goff- San Diego Khalif Barnes- Detroit LionsDEFENSEDL- Kevin Carter- Cincy Bengals Albert Haynesworth- Atlanta Falcons Julius Peppers- San Fransisco 49ers Terrel Suggs- Baltimore Ravens Tank Johnson- Tampa Bay Bucs Rocky Bernard- Tennessee TitansLB- Ray Lewis- New York Jets Eric Barton- Arizona Cardinals Carlos Dansby- Dallas Cowboys Johnathan Vilma- New Orleans Saints Bart Scott- Detroit Lions Zach Thomas- Baltimore Ravens Mike Peterson- Kansas City Channing Crowder- Kansas City Michael Boley- Miami Dolphins DB- Asomugha- Raiders Mike Brown- New Orelans Saints Chris Crocker- Cincy Bengals Bryant Mcfadden- Pitt Steelers Brian Dawkins- Philly Eagles Chris Gamble- New Orleans Saints Dawan Landry- Baltimore Ravens Justin Miller- New York Jets Dunta Robinson- Kansas City Chiefs I am sure I forgot a couple of people, but it is close enough. ArmyBengal
The draft is hard enough to determine and I just can't bring myself to care about the other teams outside the Bengals. Sooooooo.Give me Jason Brown and everything else we can build around that.I also would like to have Shayne, Crocker, and a couple of our own LB's back for depth... HAPPYJAQ
Miles Austin is interesting to me. He returns kicks and at he's 6'3'', 216. Maybe he could be a Tab Perry type for us. I'd also like to see Justin Miller. He wins 2-3 games a year just returning kicks and would have to be an upgrade over Jamar Fletcher as a dime corner. I think the Bengals should also take a strong look at Leonard Weaver at FB, who is a crushing lead blocker in the Jeremi Johnson mold. Not knowing other teams' needs, roster, talent, philosphies etc., it's kinda hard to predict who goes where. I am kind of a sports fanatic so I watch what all teams are doing. I know that we are going to be active in FA if we let TJ walk.

Oh yeah, thanks and good luck !!!The reason why I really don't wanna just let TJ walk for nothing is people expect to get a comp pick right? well if we sign Jason Brown or any player to a fairly large contract it pretty much nullifys our chance of getting 3rd or 4th round comp the following year...So Signing Jason Brown would be superb Signing Jason Brown and getting a 2nd or 3rd for TJ would be even better... Works for me.What can Brown do for you???Carson stands a better chance at being healthy for an entire season. Our running game will improve. Our passing game will improve. We don't have to spend a 2nd or 3rd round pick on a Center.Eases the transition to Nate Livings at LG and Whit at RT, thus eliminating the need to draft an OT in the 1st round.Eliminates the need to sign a veteran C or RT.We acquire one of the best young Centers in the NFL that is only 26 years old.Livings and Bobbie Williams' play should improve, playing next to a legitimate Center. We add another veteran leader to the offense. We instantly become more physical at the point of attack, which has been lacking since Rich Braham retired.More than enough reasons to trade T.J. and a 3rd or 4th round pick for Brown, under that scenario. Baraka
over pay for jason brown for all the rasons listed in happy's post. i will add to that list restoring faith to the fans of this franchise. if brown signs brown, as many here have been clamoring for, it may give the fan base something to commend mikey on and that would be a first. ArmyBengal
I would give less than a rats ass about not getting the comp pick IF we were to pick up Jason Brown. Jason Brown would do FAR MORE than TJ would for the Bengals. FAR MORE !!! Not even close to make the comparison...Overpay already and move on to the next hole to fill. Oh yeah, bye TJ... HAPPYJAQ
The Bengals will always have to overpay for quality FA's to come here to play football. That's just the way it is. Really, it's part of the reason that we have so many issues with re-signing our key players, too. People around the NFL have been saying negative things about playing in Cincinnati, from the lack of facilities and amenities to the ownership, since Mike Brown took over. That said, the Bengals MUST make a major free agent acquisition along the offensive line in this offseason. The good news is that ownership finallly got it last year and tried in vain to acquire a major talent in Shaun Rogers through trade, even willing to redo his deal to get him here. The Bengals must "finish the deal", so to speak, this year. Superstar players like Julius Peppers and Terrell Suggs will not realistically consider playing here (sad to say, i know), but the Bengals may be better off signing a slightly under-the-radar and emerging player in Brown with immediate Pro Bowl potential. A major acquisition like Brown would be a tremendous move for the organization to make, even at 7 million per season. The Bengals' fan base is in turmoil and that type of signing would be a major statement to the diehard fans who have been through the entire unrestricted free agency era without signing an immediate impact player, although arguments could be made for guys like Ashley Ambrose, Tory James and a few others. Signing the 26-year old Brown would have a much greater impact on Sundays than signing an over-the-hill Warren Sapp in '04 and he would be the cornerstone of a rebuilding offense, focusing on running the football and protecting one of the NFL's Elite QB's, while we continue to develop the young receivers.Jeff Faine signed for 6 years and 37 million dollars, with 15 million guaranteed last year with the Bucs. Sign Brown to 6 years and 40 million, with 18 guaranteed and don't worry about the interior of your offensive line again until 2014. In three years, that contract will look like a drop in the bucket, anyway.

BengalszoneBilly
I'm beginning to believe I have an illness, because I, for one, want to see a healthy Carson have a chance to succeed throwing to Chad and T.J. Just one more season. I simply don't think the new WR's are up to carrying the load in the starting jobs as wideouts. Not yet.
volcom69
Sorry Billy but i think the dream is over, TJ will be gone and who knows maybe Chad will be traded. Bring Brown in and i would be very happy with that, but i still think they need to do something on defense. They have no pass rushing guys what so ever, and i know they may have finished 12th or whatever it was in total defense, but they still have alot of work to do. I still the Crabtree could be the pick of choice if all this pans out.

volcom69
Im feelin the sameway, and i hope to be suprised. I also hope they bring in a vet WR to come in and help out the young guys. If TJ is gone and Chad is gone then i really hope the draft Crabtree, that is if they get Brown in free agency, or another linemen to help out. ArmyBengal
I'm going to start a new thread about this with a certain point to address, we will see how it turns out...Anyway, I'm ready to move on. I'm willing to accept the fact the passing game may take a hit. However, I'm also ready to not have to deal with these two drama queen b*tches anymore. READY !!!
