Great person, I really admired Madieu as a person because I too took care of my teenager sister when our mother died... Unfortunately he is a very average player, maybe even a backup, which is probably what he'll do in Minnesota. From what I've seen out of Marvin White, we have a better safety now.

I like Madeiu as a Bengal and it's a shame that his career is being derailed by injury. I think the Bengals have had more of these types of players than any team in the league. Think of all of the Bengals who had injuries that either forced them into retirement or not completely recover from and it makes you think. I hope he goes on to have a good career in Minny.

I liked Madieu as a Bengal in his rookie year. After that, you got what the Vikings are getting this year, which is very little. The Vikings unfortunately paid him big bucks and I'm glad the Bengals didn't do that. The thing is not to confuse what Madieu brought as a player and what he brought as a person. He is a great person and an average at best safety. Injuries suck and he hasn't been the same since his shoulder injury.

WHODEY !!!

While we're on the subject of FAs the Bengals let go this year, some Panthers fans are beginning to worry at Landon Johnson's failure to unseat Na'il Diggs for a starting spot in Carolina.

Yea but we really screwed up when we let Steinbach go. Now all I am hearing is how him and Thomas resurrected the Browns offense.

Madieu, while a talented player, had ample time to get and stay healthy. His injuries hurt the team and thus was not extended/walked. He is now Minny's issue to work with.

Mr. Marvin does need to learn how to wrap. That display looked like he graduated from the Tory James School of Bump Tackling. You Have to wrap it up. he will be fine and I think something so dramatic, like having your helmet detonated from your head, will mean the coaches "learn" him some better technique.

Landon sturggling in Carolina is only slightly, painfully amusing. The comment that he was a back-up on a team not noted for great LB play is on the money.

As for Steiny, well, let's just say it was a dumb move and get over it. I mean, the continued (even my own) whining about bad moves from the front office do nothing. If there is upside, it is that the O-line looks darned healthy and ready to get going. There are some big boys there now, so get them rolling and it could get ugly. This *could* be a dominant line for a few years to come and with good depth. Now, if they could just get the C postion to play at the same level as LT or RT...

The only reason I miss Steiny is that we could really use him at Center right now. But the year we let him go, he played pitifully. He was a turnstile in pass blocking. His claim to fame was always his ability to pull in run blocking. Whitworth has performed much more than capably in his spot - so I don't miss him. He was asking for a boatload of money because he is able to play multiple positions. Right now the Bengals only need him for one.
