membengal
On offense from last night:---no doubt the first teamers looked anemic for too long. No running game and confused receivers will do that.---Perry was a revelation. That's the Perry I dimly remember from 2005. I was at the Colts/Bengals shoot-out that year, and remember Perry taking that game over. This team would be immeasurably better if he can stay healthy and run that angry all season. ---So that's what a TE looks like in an offense. Huh. It was as sweet as we all thought it would be. Utecht is going to make Carson's life a whole lot easier this season.---At back-up QB, I was heartened by what they got out of Fitzgerald. He looked competent. That's not a bad place to start at back-up qb.ETA: Fitzpatrick. Too busy to get things right, sorry.
walzav29
I think the o-line looked out of sync. They have a ton of talent and just need to shake off the rust.
vettespd20
ya the next game should tell us a better story. I hope they step it up
gregstephens
I thought Perry looked a lot quicker, perhaps from blowing off rust the past two weeks. Fitzpatrick clearly established himself as the number two qb, distancing himself from Rowe by about ten miles. I'm not sure Rowe is the one that stays at this point. Utecht looked excellent. Will be hard to gage the offense until Rudi and T.J. get back in the mix.
jonf45uk
its certainly a lot more balanced with Perry and a TE that can catch. Last year everything was too obvious, i really hope Perry stays fit as he gives another good outlet to Palmer. i think perry was 2nd in receptions in 2005, which gives opposing defences something else to think about, which in turn frees up chad and TJ down the field.jon
BlainThePain
Having Utecht and Perry to dump the ball off to should dramatically decrease Palmer's INTs.
GROIII
Perry was amazing. You can really tell how much it means to him to be back on the field. I was so excited with what he was doing. I think he will help spread out the defense which will help chad, TJ, and Ben alot. Can't wait until the O-line gets things right and they will. Adam-Whodey
Utecht did look great he's gonna improve our redzone offense so much right off the bat....Carson came out look flatter than i would have hoped but got into a rhythm. Perry looked great did you see him after his touchdown "MOFO" haha i like the attitude though playin with an edge and with something to prove. Simpson had a couple nice grabs but Caldwell looked lost out there to me. Maxwell should be our #3 at this point and i hope they left Chatman in Green Bay
Ickey44
The first three series were horrid. I was very impressed with Perry and Utecht. Watson looked good as well. Simson made some good grabs, though one he landed out of bounds. Chatman, I think, needs to step it up or find another job. I saw one route he ran wrong, and another long pass that, IMO, he didn't try very hard for.
Adam-Whodey
And what i saw from james johnson i was not impressed....i know its early but i dont think he makes the teamWasnt impressed with Rowe's arm strength of course Jordan didnt even get to throw the ball so not sure on him either. He's fast, but that's about all he's got going for him. He couldn't juke out of a tackle, and forget breaking out of one.

Johnson may end up on practice squad.I was disappointed they didn't get Jordan more snaps (False start penalty set hit series back), but with 3 more preseason games Rowe and Palmer will get their chances.I wish the o-line would run block with more aggressiveness. They run block like they pass block, with finesse. That just doesn't cut it. Smash mouth football. That is what I am want to see.

They were trying to run out the clock and he had already gotten the first down. Had he stayed on his feet and gotten dragged out of bounds, the clock would have stopped. It wasn't him being scared, it was him being smart.

TippCityRick
The backs will be Rudi, Perry, and Watson. Each brings to the table things that JJohnson and DeDe don't. Those two are fighting for a position on the practice squad.
HairOnFire
---Perry was a revelation. That's the Perry I dimly remember from 2005. I was at the Colts/Bengals shoot-out that year, and remember Perry taking that game over. IMHO the Chris Perry of 2005 wouldn't have broken the tackle that got him close enough to reach the ball over the goal line last night. And point blank, that's the sorta stuff he's been missing, including in 2005 when he was almost exclusively used a pass catcher or draw play specialist. This team would be immeasurably better if he can stay healthy and run that angry all season. Even Perry's loudest critics, including me, admit Perry can be something special if he could earn a role as a true between-the-tackles runner. Do that much and we can all enjoy discussions about him being a starter worthy of a Marshall Faulk comparison.

Right now the embers are still burning in my a$$. Since Perry's bonus's dwarf mine, I'm sure the fire under his a$$ is white hot.

Still - I'd like to believe he's playing hard for more than only a contract. I'm fine with the fact that it's part of it, but I hope it's also because he wants to prove doubters like me wrong, and maybe just maybe wants to stick it in the face of all the people who called him a wasted draft pick. Here's to hoping he does......but I'm still officially a doubter.

It was like a huge weight was lifted off his shoulders when he scored.
