gregstephens
Bengals announced they have signed Domata Peko to an extension through 2014, extending him five more years on his current contract. No details on money.
TippCityRick
Nothin' against D but I was hoping for another long haired Bengal to be extended "reasonably". Not today I guess . . . and not likely either.

duus
To me, this is a very smart move ... something I want to see more of. It's fairly simple ... identify the young guys that you feel play hard and have potential and ensure they are signed right up to 29 or 30 years of age. Peko is now under contract until he is 29. Perfect. Stop this garbage of signing guys into their 30s. Look at the teams that are good almost every year. They do this. This is a good sign. A step in the right direction. HoosierCat
Peko, schmeko, more importantly, our linebacker woes were just solved today! (Sad thing is the guy is probably an upgrade considering what we have on hand...)

(Sad thing is the guy is probably an upgrade considering what we have on hand...)Come on, just how fun is it going to be to talk and write on this forum about Linebacker Bjork! How freaking cool is that?? Seriously, he has every opportunity to continue the fine NFL Swedish linebacking tradition...a tradition wrought with such names as Butkus, Nitsche and Urlacher...oh, wait a minute... BengalPimp
Great move locking up Peko long-term...He would have been WAAAAY more expensive in a year or two. Thats how you do it. Had they done that with Stacey Andrews, they wouldnt have had to franchise him this season....Good Move.
Dadraftnick
I love Peko he is one of the few players that the Bengals drafted that I wanted them to.When I went to traing camp, Peko was one of the few starters not too cool to sign autographs.--BTW Chad did notI think that Peko may be the best character guy on the team.I think that he will get even better with Pat Simms (another player I wanted them to take in the draft) playing beside him.BUT, give Peko a contract that pays him equal to top ten DT's in the NFL? Does anybody think that he is a top ten DT at this point in his career?I am not saying that Peko will not be one of the best DT's in the NFL someday but ,he is not one of the top 10 now. This is the Mike Brown overpay your players strategy--while ,I am gald they have Peko locked up this is how we got the Geathers and Rudi deal too,two guys that that are not that good but are being paid so much they have to start.I just hope Peko lives up to his contract better than Geathers and Rudi have. Besides I don't think $5.8 mil is top ten money. Oh and BTW are you seriously suggesting that Geathers isn't good enough to start, or has not lived up to expectations?
