You can not worry about EVERY offseason variable

It is almost june and all I see in most of these bengals forums is negative reinforment for either hypothetical situations or moves that bengals fans do not agree with. The bottom line is we cant worry about every possible thing that COULD or COULD NOT happen. Odell and Chrisy Henery got cut, ok move on. It cant be that much of a schock. Both are very talented but they f#cked up over and over. Chad Johnson does not want to be a bengal. Chad is a cancer on this team regardless of his talent level. This situation will pan out for everyone. If he is a distraction he will be cut ala T.O. and Keshawn, forever branded a b!tch. We didnt sign S. Rogers. Maybe Pat Simms is better than rogers ever could be. Do not forget that detroit was willing to trade a player that they felt messed up their chemistry. Ok, bottomline...If november rolls around and we are out of playoff contention again, it is time to start venting our frustrations but my advice to all of us die hard homers is relax, take it in stride and remeber that we have Carson Palmer as our quarterback. We are never out of any game with number 9 and as long as we get some breaks we will be fine. The AFC NORTH is a very tough division, it is anyones guess who will come out as champs.

Addition by subtraction - quite honestly, I feel more confortable with those two gone. Now for the youngsters to step up.

Joseph - its time for you to shine.

Rudi - This is it - put up or you are out.

Perry - same goes for you.

Willie - you were paid, now show you are more important than Steinbach was. Did the Bengals make a mistake reupping you?

Levi - Shut up and play how you can - then we will talk money or a trade.

Geathers - Last year had you out of position - lets dominate this year.

Chad - The ball is in your court - be a team player - go to the pro bowl again - help take this team to the promise land instead of trying to buy out.

Carson - Take control of the leadership role - start getting some pocket presence and quit forcing balls. You have plenty of room for improvement. Become a big game quarterback for once. Make that play that puts you into that elite group. So far you have not made that play.

And Finally - Marvin - Are you a good coach? So far I dont know - poor clock/time-out management. Poor play calling. Poor halftime adjustments. You have just as much to prove as anyone. Your preseason motivation shirts dont seem to work. Show you can control this locker room or see your way out.

Is it September yet?

Who Dey!!!!

Selective memory about Carson Palmer?

How about that game in Baltimore when he threw for 200 yards and 3 TD's to score 24 points and win the game?

How about 2006 when he recovered from a brutal acl and pcl injury to get back on the field in 9 months, then play every snap? That is elite leadership.

True. He has made some big plays in big games. The great ones do it consistently. He has not been consistent.

Poor halftime adjustments.

I honestly don't remember ANY halftime adjustments that made any bit of difference! <_<

I suspect bwilly more accurately meant 'no halftime adjustments'. That's the way I recall the 2007 campaign.

What are you talking about? Bresnahan always made halftime adjustments..He told them..."Fellas, you know what you did in the first half? Do the same thing in the 2nd half, only worse!".........Man am i glad that guy's gone.

Marvin couldnt make adjustments at halftime, because he was to busy trying to get Chad Johnson to stop choking people....he had his hands full.

In all seriousness, Marvin wasnt the one calling the offensive or defensive plays. While there is new hope with Zimmer as the D-Coordinator, Bratkowski's play-calling has to also be under serious scrutiny.....Brat gets away with his bad play calling, by claiming Carson changes too much of it at the line of scrimmage. Memo to Brat-----COME UP WITH SOME NEW OFFENSIVE PLAYS---YOU"VE BEEN RUNNING THE SAME DAMN PLAYS, IN THE SAME SUCCESSION FOUR THE PAST 4 YEARS. Everybody and their grandmother knows whats coming on 1st and 2nd Down, and it forces Carson to audible.

Oh Yeah, and scrap the no-huddle until you're in hurry-up situations.

They also know what's coming up on third and five or more--shovel pass. Worked great in 2005. Last year...not so much.

I agree. Brat draws up good plays, but he sure doesn't know when to call them. I wouldn't mind having a new offensive coordinator.

cheers. my 4-years old nephew once had a streak of over 19 quarters of bengals football guessing EVERY offensive play that we ran.

(he was 2 years old at time of streak)

I'm going to go in an opposite direction here for a change and say we do need to worry about "most" offseason move. Why ??

Well, the defense (while making moves) is still an annual bottom feeder. I'm sick to f*cking death in seeing a defense play so God D*mn poorly when all they need to be in mid level for this team to go deep into the playoffs. Top 5 would be great, but I beleive #15 would be just about enough at this point. The LB corps is still under much scrutiny with Odell being gone. I'm not privy to all things surrounding that obviously, but now we are talking about Blackstock being a possible starter and what about depth behind him ??

The WR corps has made some additions with the infusion of youth, but Chad is still a huge distraction and I for one am absolutely tired of hearing anything involving him. Anything minus a public apology and clutch catches from Chad still equates to me hoping he gets bit by a rabid dog !!! The O-line has it's own issues with age and injuries and I'm still not sold on their depth either. Is Andrews really the backup at every position ?? Lets hope he's here next year !!! The RBs better bring it this year or it will be much of the same from the offense this season. VERY PREDICTABLE...

Do we have ANYONE that return kicks and punts worth a sh*t ?? For the love of God, lets try to improve this area as well. Special teams needs a boost !!!

Does that sound negative ?? I would think yes, but I believe that the majority of what I just spouted about is pretty accurate. Besides that, I just enjoy the conversation and this is just the kind of thing that happens not only on this forum, but most I would guess.

Here's to hoping this season doesn't piss me off to much !!!

WHODEY !!!

I'm with you, man. I don't think they addressed their needs very well this offseason. I know they felt they needed to stock up at WR with Chad doing his stupid s**t and TJ being in a contract year, but I think drafting three WR's (none of which have on kick/punt returning ability) was overreacting to the situation.

I know I'm just a lowly fan and I'm not privy to all that goes on in the organization, but on the outside looking in it doesn't seem like anyone knows what's going on. Marvin has brought credibility back to the franchise but I wouldn't say he's our savior. I just wish someone could make Mikey wake up and realize that he needs help running this franchise. We need a GM and a bigger scouting dept. We need someone who knows the ins and outs of the CBA so things like what happened with the Shaun Rogers trade don't happen anymore. We need someone who will quit reaching out to bad character guys.

Anyway, that's my two cents. Take it for what it's worth.
