HAPPYJAQ
Just wanted to say the Bengals fans on this board are the greatest! That said, since the draft has passed and we have selected 3 WR's could could possibly replace Chris Henry and Chad (maybe), would you be willing to trade Chad for a 1st and 3rd in next years draft in June (when his salary/bonus can be split between this year and next)? This would give us 5 of the first 5 of the first 100 picks in next years draft and would help resigning TJ. Thoughts?
duus
..., would you be willing to trade Chad for a 1st and 3rd in next years draft in June (when his salary/bonus can be split between this year and next)?Yes, at this point I would definitely give a team our 1st and 3rd round picks next year to take Chad out of our locker room. bengalboomer7
It depends on how the season plays out. I'm glad marvin & Mike have taken this stance. He;s gonna end up playing (they all do) lets see how bad it gets. i don't think he's important enough in the locker room to have any real effect

Dimster28
yeah i agree, let chad stay, as all real baby who cry when mad at parent, will keep on do that if they know they will get their own, but the moment parent start to tolerance and ignore their baby's crying, baby will stop do that, so chad will stop do that when he know he cant get his own way all time, (remember chad look at ML as his "father")
Kazkal
I would turn down 1st and 3rd since we could had higher value from redskins offer,1st and 2nd maybe with if he goes to probowl and has 1400+ yards we also get a 3rd
DC_Bengals_Fan
I'd trade Chad even-up for a 40 of Old English. If he leaves gracefully I might spill a few ounces for the good Chad years.
GregCook
I'd trade Chad even-up for a 40 of Old English. If he leaves gracefully I might spill a few ounces for the good Chad years.Letting Chad sit out is like Starbucks closing 20 of its most profitable stores ... just because.I am all for humiliating Chad but at some point business sense has to prevail. The guy has great value and should be traded between now and August. There is no cap issue that can't be solved with a Carson Palmer contract change...he's going to be around for another 10 years right? Here is my suggestion...Resign TJ for money that Chad wants. Have a splashy presser to announce TJ's new deal. Hire Hooter Girls to serve drinks and sliders to the assembled guests.Tell Chad we'll help you prepare your retirement papers. Heck even offer to put him on the team's retired list the way Green Bay did with Brett. All the same, tell the league that Chad is available, make me an offer I can't refuse. Wraith
I let him play this season and let the chips fall where they may before next years draft. I do not believe he will sit out and even if he does getting a 1st and 3rd next has no potential to help us this season. Why trade him now when all you are doing is make a competitor better? Like Wimpy paying tuesday for a Hamburger today.
Horsemen
I hate the Eagles so I say no, don't trade them s***.

Like Wimpy paying tuesday for a Hamburger today. He's possibly worth more now. First, he's as young as he's going to get. Second, since the Bengals have already given him his bonus he would come cheap to another team, and having an extra year of an affordable Chad Johnson is a benefit (although if a trade came with a renegotiation, that benefit would be lost). He'll also probably be worth less next year because I expect his stats to take a hit. Then there's the less tangiable but important benefits of getting rid of him. First, the team could easily win more without him than with him if he's that much of a distraction. Second, having the Chad situation could really kill the locker room, and that might have a longer lasting impact than just this year. He probably isn't the role model you want around our young receivers. As for trading him to the competition - just trade him to the NFC. You maybe play him once. And heck, tell Marvin White to stick a helmet under his chin and rattle his remaining brains. Also, as to not getting an immediate impact - I imagine he could be traded for a player or two after June 1 fairly easily. And we still need help in a lot of places.

Dallas did not address their WR problem in the draft so they may still be looking. I really don't think Philly is that interested, but I'm sure someone is looking for a "Chad" type out there. His replacements are already in place and if you're a fan of getting an extension for T.J., it almost has to happen. T.J. will be asking for Franchise money, as well. Oldcat
It would be pretty funny to have the promotions people for the Bengals to plan a Chad Johnson retirement day at one of the halftimes this year. We could give him a rocking chair, and a stick and knife to take up whittling with. And a megaphone to yell at the kids on his lawn.

How about a Chad Johnson kleenex giveaway? Maybe they can get Vagisil to sponsor it.
blueridge
Yes. I would trade 85 for one of the Eagles' 1rst round picks. I would offer Ocho and our 3rd next year for a 1rst, the rights to DeSean Jackson and Shawn Andrews. I would also trade Levi to anyone if offered a No.1 next year. Then move Stacy Andrews to LT alongside his brother.
