TJJackson Posted April 27, 2008 Report Posted April 27, 2008 Agreed....after the poor value pick in rd2, they have to have a DT in round 3. The two picks in r3 should each be one of: DT, DE, OL, or RB (with RB the least important of the 4 spots, and DT required)It'd be extra sweet if somehow the DT they take is versatile and can play DE in goal line or obvious running situations
ChadJohnson-85 Posted April 27, 2008 Report Posted April 27, 2008 I want to see BiG DRE MOORE in stripes!
ArmyBengal Posted April 27, 2008 Author Report Posted April 27, 2008 I think it's going to be a DT and an O-lineman...WHODEY !!!
Kazkal Posted April 27, 2008 Report Posted April 27, 2008 Ya because the dude was only rated higher then all day but let's not even give him a chance...
kurgan74 Posted April 27, 2008 Report Posted April 27, 2008 Pat Sims might be the most overrated player in this draft. If Sims is available at 77 it will be tough to pass him up. Many dra analysist say that if he had decidedto return to Auburn this year he would likely be a first rounder in 2009. His first step is explosiveand he does a good job of collapsing the pocket and providing a good pass rush. One comparable of Sims is the Giants Justin Tuck. Any DT who could provide similar results to Tuck would be a welcomeaddition to the Bengals.
TJJackson Posted April 27, 2008 Report Posted April 27, 2008 Sims won't be considered because he quit on his team during the season, regardless of the reason. It's considered a character flaw in the business of football. Yes, I know he didn't kill, rape, do or sell drugs, etc etc....yes, I know some of you do not consider what he did to be a character flaw, and I won't debate it further.Dre Moore is the target here
JoePong Posted April 27, 2008 Report Posted April 27, 2008 Any big rugged physical DT who can stuff the run and occupy blockers, particularly in this division, will be fine with me. There seems to be a few of them, but it sems like the knock on all of them is they give inconsistent effort or take plays off. But that seems to always be the knock on the big guys coming out so maybe that is overrated. On a side note, I am looking forward to seeing what Fanene can do at DT now that he has bulked up. He has the athletic ability, he just was sort of raw and inexperienced coming out of college. But our Samoan connection (Peko and Fanene) might not be bad. Throw in our draft pick (hopefully) and we might have a good young 3 man rotation. Hopefully Odom and Geathers will provide the outside pass rush - and maybe Eric Henderson as well. Our back 7 seems to have some potential with our young LBs (Rivers, Brooks,Thurman) and secondary (Hall, Joseph, White, Ndukwe, Kilmer, David Jones). we have a lot of pieces, we just need that one big horse up front.
kingwilly Posted April 27, 2008 Report Posted April 27, 2008 Dre moore is a big upside guy...less experienced but has the ability.Oakm is just massive and could be what we need to jam up the weak side vs Macgahee, Parker (& now Mendenhall) and Lewis in the division.Rubin is a blend of both and is just a mauler....Any of these three will serve the purpose.
Sandwedge Posted April 27, 2008 Report Posted April 27, 2008 I'd love to see Rubin and then the best possible pass rusher in Rd 3... Something to perk this draft up..
DontPushMe Posted April 27, 2008 Report Posted April 27, 2008 Yeah Dre Moore is my target here also. Love the upside.None of this matters of course, as we all know there is 0 chance we take him. Even if we go DT it will be no one that anyone here is talking about. It will be an obscure DT who had a nice workout and was considered a possible 5th round steal. Getting excited about the draft is very difficult as a bengal fan, because you really never have a clue whats going to happen
BTG Posted April 27, 2008 Report Posted April 27, 2008 No players in particular, but positions I'd like to see:1. DT2. C3. S (for depth)4. RB (likewise)Is Jamaal Charles still available? I was at work the entire second round. If he's there, don't we have to pick him up?
DC_Bengals_Fan Posted April 27, 2008 Report Posted April 27, 2008 Well who do you think we should force an issue on?The difference between quality in the later rounds is pretty minimal, and if we don't draft a DT - or get one some way - we're looking at another year of John Thornton, and that just might kill me.The top player on the board at a position of need. Just like any round. If we don't get a DT we have another year of John Thornton. The difference in quality in the 3rd round +/- 5 spots is pretty minimal.
Bobcat Bengal Posted April 27, 2008 Report Posted April 27, 2008 DeMario Pressley, Andre Fluellen or Red Bryant for a DT choice, and I'd roll with either Thomas Brown, Tashard CHoice, Jermicheal Finley, Brad Cottom or DeJuan Tribble in the 3rd.Of course, I'm just throwing out stuff here.
HairOnFire Posted April 27, 2008 Report Posted April 27, 2008 I'm just not feeling DT with the next pick. Marcus Harrison might be worthy of interest this high but he's the type of player who should be removed from the Bengals draft board. And sorry, but Pat Sims needs to keep falling before I'll become interested in him....although the Bengals may feel differently. I'd much rather select Dre Moore and hope someone can light a fire under his ass. So there it is. A weak vote for Dre Moore or I say we pass on DT for BPA. At this point I'd look at OG, S, or CB.
Spor_tees Posted April 27, 2008 Report Posted April 27, 2008 Frank Okam Frank Okam Frank Okam...he is big enough to be a nose tackle in a 3-4...6'5" 320lbs..
BTG Posted April 27, 2008 Report Posted April 27, 2008 Safety Tom Zbnsdiofhasflreiowski would look good in orange and black, as would safety Dejuan Morgan from NC State. We could really use the depth there.
kingwilly Posted April 27, 2008 Report Posted April 27, 2008 Yes, Okam would work....cloggerall will be prescribed with him in the middle.
duus Posted April 27, 2008 Report Posted April 27, 2008 You see, the Okam talk is exactly what I am talking about. The guy, by most accounts, is projected as a 4th or maybe even 5th round pick. Yet many folks like the guy in this mid 3rd round spot. That wouldn't bother me either. How in the world is Simpson pick any different than this?
Spor_tees Posted April 27, 2008 Report Posted April 27, 2008 You see, the Okam talk is exactly what I am talking about. The guy, by most accounts, is projected as a 4th or maybe even 5th round pick. Yet many folks like the guy in this mid 3rd round spot. That wouldn't bother me either. kurgan74 Posted April 27, 2008 Report Posted April 27, 2008 I will continue to bang the drum for a DT....Sims is the best left that can rush the passerup the middle. At this point I will be happy with just about any DT. In order of preference forme, I would take: Sims, Fluellen, Harrison (though he is likely off their board), Moore, Bryant, Okam, then Rubin.
kurgan74 Posted April 27, 2008 Report Posted April 27, 2008 Well one of the DT's will be there now at 77. With so many similar, the Bengals may try to grab therunning back and wait for the DT. I hope they choose the DT irst as there are many teamsbetween the Bengals picks that said hey wanted to improve their DL.
Spor_tees Posted April 27, 2008 Report Posted April 27, 2008 If they take a RB expect it to be Tashard Choice from GaTech
