DuffMan
The fact that we resigned Fanaenae and are pursuing Calvin Pace unofficially makes me wonder if in fact we are switching to a 3-4. Our of Boredom I came up with this thing:Offseason:Sign OLB Calvin PaceTrade for DT Shaun Rogers (3rd rounder?)Re-sign Jeanty Re-sign Bryan Robinson (league min)Draft:1) With Long, Dorsey, Ellis and Ghol gone...DT/DE Kentwan Balmer 2) LB John Goff or Maybe Curtis Lofton3) Traded3) (comp) TE of sortDefense Lineup:OLB: C. Pace, Jeanty OLB: R. Geathers, Pollack (Hope), Henderson MLB: Brooks, SchelgalMLB: Odell (hope), GoffDE: Fanaenae, Robinson, VerdonNT: Rogers, Peko, MyersDE: Balmer, RuckerThoughts? I still think the Bengals will need to draft another cornerback high to be that third corner to come in nickel situations and if one of our corners go down. I'm not feeling anybody on our roster to fill that cornerback role we need help there bad. But what you proposed was excellent I would hire you to be the GM any day thinking like that. What's funny to me is that I have read all these different people howling about Justin Smith but I have heard barely little about Landon Johnson possible leaving; Landon has played actually better then he was drafted where Justin has not lived up to his draft or money status at all that strikes me as funny that we have so many Justin lovers but few Landon Johnson backers. volcom69
Just saw Rosavelt Colvin was released from the patriots i wonder what his price is but he also might be a decent fit in the 3-4 if thats what they go for.
Spor_tees
The latest story on the Bengals.com states:With prospects and agents saying the Bengals are giving off all indications at the combine that they are moving to a 3-4 defense, Monday's workouts for the defensive line and linebackers were of particular note. But don't listen to Joe Pong...I am sure he will reassure you this is not true. Pidge
If true then it's interesting. If they are serious about a 3-4 we might only see one D-lineman. Hopefully Rivers at#9 and in my perfect fantasy world Laws is still available in the second (and Laetitia Casta is my sexually depraved mistress but I digress) plus another LB. If we go 3-4, we're not just short at LB, we're hideously short at LB.

Did he workout at the combine? I have no idea and thought his stock would rise a little at least.

He weighed in at 350Lbs, and looked slow & flabbyTo quote my buddy Walter:Frank Okam, Texas Height: 6-4. Weight: 347. Projected 40 Time: 5.00. Combine 40 Time: 5.32. Benchx225: 32. Vertical 23. Projected Round: 3-4. Forget bulldozers; they should just have Frank Okam run a couple of 40s when they want to knock down the RCA Dome. I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that Okam ate a cheeseburger or two after the end of the regular season.

I love the thought of Brooks and Odell in the middle but its a stretch. Brooks has been unimpressive, and we all know Odell's struggle... We need to sign a decent LB in FA and draft another in one of the first three rounds.

Just have to keep him from veering into Shaun Rogers territory with the huffing and puffing after standing up out his chair.
