Pidge
Yep, sucks BIGTIME !!! We came here through Kuwait and we all figured we would go back that way, but there was a last minute change and here we sit. We have our welcome back ceremony late Sunday night at Fort Riley. Mrs. ArmyBengal, ArmyBengal Jr., ArmyBengal Grandpa, and ArmyBengal Mother in law will all be there when I get back.Unreal how they can just leave Soldiers coming back hanging out with nothing to do. Basically we sit here for a week doing nothing. We can't even get any outprocessing done. It was like they didn't even know we were coming here and working to get us out is an inconvenience. But like I said before, I'm still coming home and they can't stop the clock !!!Anyway, talk to you guys again soon !!!WHODEY !!!Man, I missed this thread somehow. You're still not home? Still have time to wish you a safe trip, the last leg of it anyway, home. Kudos to you, AB.
ArmyBengal
**UPDATE**We got a flight out on Friday and were able to leave 2 days early. I got back to Fort Riley on Saturday and after 23 1/2 of flight time (including stops in Turkey and Ireland) I was able to see my family again. Boy what a day !!! All the emotion involved with seeing families united after such a stressful year is amazing. We first got to see them at the welcome home ceremony and ArmyBengal Jr. was in the stands clapping along to the Star Spangled Banner being played. It was pretty funny to watch. We stayed at Fort Riley long enough to finish outprocessing and going through briefings, then left yesterday to come back to Cincinnati. We got into Indianapolis early this morning and drove the rest of the way in. We don't have much going on outside of seeing some family and just relaxing. ArmyBengal Jr. got sick last night and I'm taking him to the doctor this morning, but not a big deal. I think I'm the one who gave him the crud... We will be in Cincinnati for a couple of weeks before we leave for Sioux Falls, so I will check back here and there to let you guys know how things are going.I'M HOME FOR GOOD !!!! Happy Happy Happy !!!Once again, thanks for all the support from everyone over the past 15 months !!! You guys are the best !!!Mark... ArmyBengal
Well, finally got into Sioux Falls and are settled into our new house. I like the city up to this point and am enjoying being home everyday with my family. Oh yeah, big difference between a 2 week old and a 16 month old. ArmyBengal Jr. is doing well though. After we got thing together in the house, I went out a bought myself a 52 in, LCD flatscreen to be able to watch the Bengals games on DirecTV this season. I CAN'T WAIT !!! I have never been a big fan a NASCAR, but watching the Daytona 500 on the big screen in HD was amazing. I might have to start watching on a regular basis. Anyway, looking for a physical fitness center today and don't go back to work until around the 10th of March. I'm just having fun doing not much of anything except being around my family and getting around to see what's out there. Note to fellow mods, I will move this out of here soon. I just wanted to give, what should be, the last update in this thread. One last "THANK YOU" to everyone here at the Zone who has supported me through my deployment !!! THANK YOU !!!WHODEY !!!
