BengalszoneBilly
It warms my heart seeing ONE team in Cincinnati not afraid to spend some money. Maybe this whole Dusty Baker thing will payoff!

BengalszoneBilly
I like it, but at GABP any good pitcher can struggle.True. A pitchers ballpark it's not. If one doesn't throw a mean sinker, he's in for a high ERA. No doubt about it!
redsbengalsbucks
He is 32 already, seems a little to much money for him, but at least they are making an attempt to get some bull pen help.

Kirkendall
I like it, but at GABP any good pitcher can struggle.Completely disagree. A good pitcher does well in GAB. Look at several opposing pitchers. Heck, look at Aaron Harang. Good pitchers can do well in Cincinnati.

Good pitchers can do well in Cincinnati.I think that a pitcher needs to be very good to give consistent solid starts in many of the small parks in MLB these days. A ground ball pitcher that has three good pitches and can dominate the opposing teams power is what I'm asking for for Christmas. Is Cordero a ground ball pitcher or is he a fly baller? kentjett
Cordero was the best rated relief pitching free agent over Mariano Riviera. He is only 32, which is pretty young for baseball and he he throws a mid 90's fastball w/ a good sinking slider. He has averaged more strikeouts than innings pitched throughout his career. Our bullpen looks halfway decent w/ Burton and Weathers setting up Cordero. We need one half ass starter and we could make a run.
ArmyBengal
This guy was went to the All Star game and is exactly what the Reds bullpen needed. For anyone to question this move is crazy. As already stated, at least these guys are willing to spend some money. To bad the Twins would want far more than the Reds could offer or pay for Santana !!! Am I the only one who thinks they have to much money wrapped up in Griffey and Dunn ?? I just think they could do so much more with that money...WHODEY !!!

For his career, Cordero has a 1.08 ground ball to fly ball ratio. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/stats?playerId=4139

Whur CHad At?
Rumors I have heard is that they are talking to Carlos Silva and Kyle Loshe. Looks like the Reds are making a huge upgrade in payroll this year(thank you Eric Milton).Dusty said that over 40 former players contacted him about playing for him this season...could we possibly see Mark Pryor? Our biggest problem is we have too many power hitters that strike out a lot and not enough people that get on base and hit for average. ArmyBengal
Didn't we already have Lohse ?? Don't we already know how that story ends ?? There was talk of Atlanta being a good place for Griffey to go to, but what could they offer in the way of a starter in return ?? With some of the packages I've seen being put together for Santana and other top pitchers, I think they can get someone (maybe not at that level) but someone good to be a 3rd starter. I to like the direction the ballclub is heading in. WHODEY !!!

Besides, the Braves blow, and I'd hate to see him end up there!
agreen_112
I really don't see Griffey Jr. leaving. He's settled back at home and he's in a perfect situation. Plus he has that stipulation in his contract that states he can pretty much dictate any trade... He'll finish his career here at home and hopefully help get us a championship. WhoDey93285
Griffey, Jr. is my all-time favorite player. I'd hate to see him leave, but it would be best for the organization if he did. We currently have Dunn, Griffey, Bruce, and Hamilton trying to fill up three outfield spots. In my opinion, Bruce needs to play and he needs to play now. He's the best player the Reds have had come through their system in a LONG LONG LONG time. He doesn't need to spend anymore times in the minors, he needs to gain expierience at the MLB-level.As for Carlos Silva- no thanks. We do need another starter, though. Harang, Arroyo, and Bailey are pretty much set. I think Belisle is going to improve in his second year of starting, and it wouldn't surprise me to see a Cueto call-up around the ASB. Kirkendall
Hamilton is being thrown around as trade bait. Griffey won't go.. and that has nothing to do with his personal choice. He's been producing and he's being shelved for season injuries only because the Reds are out of it. I could be wrong, but I think his '07 injury could have been played through if the team was in the pennant race. And the guy still draws fans. Dunn has his moments both ways. However, I don't think this team believes that it has to trade for talent. Their farm system is really turning right now and we're starting to develop talent. Might not be several years before that talent shows at MLB. But trading Dunn and/or Griffey won't expedite that process either. We are like the A's and Twins. We must develop and maintain the farm system if we're going to compete. Problem is, we're so far behind our system. But we're catching up. Have patience my friends. The Reds will dominate the Central -- because no one else wants to.
ArmyBengal
Don't get me wrong, I would love to see nothing more than Junior finish up as a Red. I'm just thinking from the standpoint that his salary takes up a fair amount of space that could EASILY be used on a 3rd starter for the Reds. Would I trade Junior if we could get another better than average starter and solidify this rotation ?? Yes. Do I "want" to see him go ?? No... Atlanta was brought up due to the fact Junior has a house down there in Atlanta and spends most of the offseason there. Not my statement... I guess we shall see...WHODEY !!!
