How many times will we hear that in a press conference???

We have to tackle better? Are you kidding me?

I was under the impression that these guys may have learned that in high school and college.

If they cant tackle who's fault is that? isnt that what the Bengals have coaches for?

This is getting old ..No its past that....

Lewis and his flim flam excuses are nothing but spins in saying .. I cant get this team to

play hard...

Pitiful.

I agree that they do need to tackle better. The difference between our defense and a decent defense is tackling. Think about it, when you see a dominant defense, you see people fly to the ball and then the first one there makes the tackle for little to no gain 80-90% of the time. Jonathan Joeseph hit the ball carrier at least 5 times and just bounced off. He makes those tackles, and the rest of our defense wraps the guy up when they get to them and I say we have at least 2 more wins.

The problem is that this has been the problem from week one and why are they not able to fix it? Coaching. Chuck Bresnahan is responsible for that, directly or indirectly. My guess would be he gets a one game audition for his job next week and if we can't stop Buffalo's offense decisively he is gone. How can they not? Ohhh yea I forgot..... Mike Brown.

I've made this same complaint for years and the people at the other board I used to post at got tired of seeing my posts on this subject so I finally just left.

These guys played a couple years of High School ball. They certainly played a couple of years of college ball. These guys could all tackle when they left SC or OSU or Michigan or Notre Dame etc...

How is it they all seem to come to the Bengals and suddenly they forget how to wrap people up? They don't seem to know when to hit an opponenet high and when it's better to go low and take his legs out from under him. They arm tackly guys 40lbs heavier than they are and wonder why they can't bring them down. Or worse, they bounce off an opposing players thigh or shoulder pads and get left in the dust while the guy they tried to tackle runs for an additional 10 or 12 yards turning a 3rd and 3 into a 1st and 10.

Disgusting.

Hell they couldnt tackle when Marvin got here and they still cant tackle since hes been here, thats one hell of a way to coach these guys up. That sure is part of the problem, but cant forget about how many times the LBs arent in the right gap or the D-Line cant get any pressure, or the secondary cant cover, and best of all they never come out looking physical like they want to hit or they want to pressure the qb, then they play 15 feet off the reciever and expect to make a tackle but they cant. This Defesnse is pathetic and always will be till they can find someone to coach them up.

What a joke I think its more about hart and less about needing to be coached up.

Wrong. These players have the ability to be playing in the NFL. They were all on other teams draft boards at one time or another. It boils down to poor game planning. Marvin Lewis is as great a defensive guru as the Ravens Brian Billick is an offensive guru. Both titles are laughable.
