Tab, Kilmer to IR

ugh.

...so we IR Tab and sign Roby, while Miami sends the Chargers Chambers for a r2 pick? O-K. On top of this Chatman has another hammy and could disappear forever. We have Marcus Maxwell on the PS...get the guy some snaps with the 1st team!!!

The Kilmer thing is just stupid. First off, we have about 1 safeties on the team, so what difference does it make?

Plus, was his knee hurt before? ML made itseem like a new thing...our crack Medical Staff strikes again.

as for Chris Perry, don't hold your proverbial breath.

Still no word on Chris Perry, tho...

Way to waste a roster space on a ST DB for five weeks, guys.

Agreed, horrible personnel move waiting. We should fire our GM... oh wait.

BTW, show me a team that could survive losing both OTs their #3 & 4 WR, their #2 &3 RBs (Perry and Irons) and not struggle on offense. That is not to mention what feels like 6 LBs (Pollack, odell, Caleb, Jeanty, Brooks, Henderson, Marshall sh!t it's seven) and the impact it has had on the defense. Thank heavens the DBs and DLine have been relatively healthy.

The impact of all of these folks on special teams has also been glaring.

One of my main worries is our "medical staff".

I wonder if our players could get back healthy, on the field sooner with better medical care.

I assume you mean we have like 10 of them...not 1......and if so, yep. I havent counted, but even without counting am very comfortable saying we have too many safeties and not enough LBs.

The difference, you ask? It is that Kilmer established himself last year as a top notch special teamer. The other 10? Not so much. Herana-Daze is GOOD, but Kilmer was/is GREAT on special teams.

yep, meant 10.

Funnny how we had been so thin at S and now we have tons.

Wilkins was a GREAT ST guy and they let him walk, same with quite a few others...Kilmer is cheap, that is a big part of the equation. I like Kilmer but they are making him out to be much more than he is. If they had any inkling that he knee was the issue, then they should have IR'd him and brought in someone who could contribute. nope, our medical staff fumbles this one away.

I'm starting to think this is Mike's fault. They have wasted a roster spot on Kilmer for 5 games. You don't think bring in Wilkins or Hartwell would have helped a little? In my head, and of course no one knows because Marvin won't tell us anything. I think Brown want's to keep these guys around. You know that dreaded "minimum veteran salary" comes up. Hell, I don't know. I just don't understand why it has taken this long to make this decision, and to bring in a receiver? Doomed.

Late note last night from Curnutte...

Linebacker tries out

Jim Maxwell, a linerbacker from Gardner-Webb, received a tryout today with the Bengals.

I am starting to wonder if Hartwell has sort of undisclosed injury because the Bengals are looking in every direction for a LB except his. I also would like to know where Earl Everett and Matt Muncy are, at least they would have a working knowledge of the defense.

Meet our newest scrub 'backer (per Curnutte)...

Also today, the Bengals signed linebacker Kevis Coley to the practice squad. Coley, who played at Southern Mississippi, is a first-year NFL player. He entered the NFL as a college free agent with the Giants in 2006. He did not start 2006 with an NFL team but was on Jacksonville’s practice squad for the season’s last eight games. He did not begin the 2007 preseason on an NFL roster, but was signed by Jacksonville on Aug. 26 and released by the Jaguars in final cuts on Sept. 1.
