Rudi out for Patriots

The Bengals have ruled tailback Rudi Johnson out for the Monday night game against the Patriots.

Johnson (hamstring) was one of four players listed as out, along with linebacker Rashad Jeanty, safety Ethan Kilmer and wide receiver Tab Perry.

Johnson, who has played in 64 consecutive games, will not play, barring a "significant, unexpected recovery," the Bengals said.

Kenny Watson will start in Johnson's place.

How effective was Rudi going to be anyway Monday, hopefully this will wake the Bengals up and we will see Kenney as the third down back more. I don't know why they have went away from Kenney as the third down back this year, he was picking up some good first downs last year on third down. Hopefully Chris Perry will give us some kind of jump start when he arrives.

Maybe Kenny is nothing more than a 3rd down back, or maybe seeing more snaps on other downs may improve his play. I'm hoping for the latter, but we shall see.

I'm actually kind of glad Kenny's getting a chance. Rudi has been very subpar this year. Hopefully Kenny can keep on like he did last week and give this offense a spark. Kenny seemed to find holes to run through last week that Rudi didn't even see. I'm eager to see how this plays out.

first post, long time lurker but never really got around to creating an account.

I am actually looking forward to see what Kenny can do as a starter. Ever since Rudi lost the weight he is something of a tweener. He's not the power back he was and it's obvious that he hasn't gained any speed. Kenny and Jeremi as the 1-2 doesn't look so bad. There is some pass catching potential there as well.

Chad should bring Rudi some cheeseburgers from Mickey D's to fatten him up.

It just seems this team is much more dangerous with a running back that can catch, turn and run. I hate having to have to rely on Kenny for a majority of the carries, but I agree with previous posts that it will be interesting to see how it works out.

I do have a suspicion that we will get good production from our backfield on Monday.
