walzav29
This is a young team that lives on emotions. I was there when they beat KC, I was there with the big bad 4-1 Denver Broncos came to the jungle, and the crappy 1-4 Bengals responding to a front page article saying, "Please Bengals don't embarass us" beat the Broncos 23-10. Wait a minute! Am I, am I getting hope? C'mon people. Rise up. The Bengals defense has been like this before. That was Palmers 1st starting season. He is a veteran pro-bowler now. Let's join hands and believe! Who Dey!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We can do it!!!!!!!!!Do not forget. KC was 9-0 and Denver was 4-1 going into those games. The Bengals have been there before! Ahmad is coming back. Each week the secodary will get better wih experience. This win will give these young Bengals the confidence they need. kingwilly
ok, fine. I am just as big a homer as anyone but why do people keep mentioning Brooks returning as a possible reason why we will win?Ahmad Brooks is basically a rookie who can barely make a play.Does he have talent? Yes, by the truckload.Does he have a bright future? Yes, if he can improve his game throgh experience and good coaching.Let's give the "Brooks will be back, hooray!" hoopla a rest. His is not all that...yet.I am more excited that we will see a more agile RB starting than I am about any defenseive player getting healthy. The Bengals best hope is that Brady turns into the 2007 version of Steve McNair overnight and miss wideopen wide receivers. The same or worse defense that got carved up last year and guess what New England is playing with a better offense. Tom terrific please don't show up Monday against us and give us hope. snerdly
The only chance the Bengels have is to have plenty of flukes.Tipped balls for INT's.Punts taking strange bounces. That sorta stuff...In a run-of-the-mill, vanilla game, the Pats win it going away.38-
HoosierCat
This is a young team that lives on emotions.Unfortunately Walter....they're not...http://www.sportsline.com/nfl/features/writers/expert/picksSome of that is the spread of course...but just that so many are buying into a close game is interesting.Really, tho I think youre right about emotion -- but I think that emotion is more along the lines of "have fun." Bengals have nothing to lose in this game. For the Pats it's a no-win scenario: win big and who cares, they were supposed to, right? But win close and the questions start, and if they actually lose...well, it's this all over again:
damiancasey
I think that's a good point about the Pats. They are now under much more pressure than the Bengals to win Monday because of all the hype. The only way this could be any better would be if it were 10 games inot the season and they were still undefeated - like the Colts a couple of years ago.The Bengals - on the other hand - really have nothing to lose. Everyone is saying they are a joke and that there is no way on earth that they will win this Mon.Unfortunately, I believe the hype ... unless God comes down and starts playing in the defensive backfield the Orange and Black are going to get their butts handed to them on Mon. Let's let Brooks sit and heal as long as it takes. The patriots are not the team to grit your teeth and play hurt against.
walzav29
I think Miller sucks, and Brooks is an upgrade. He makes the defense better than it is now. We've all buried Cincy, and the funny thing is if they win they are 2-2 with the confidence that they can BEAT anyone. The emphasis on BEAT is because just being competitve is no longer enough. There have been some big games won in the Marvin era. I think this could be a big step for Palmer. A win here changes the season. I really believe that. A loss and it's back to the wildcard shuffle. I think the confidence will win them a few more games but let's face it...we're talking aboutthe difference between winning 3 game sthis season and winning 8 games this season. walzav29
I think it's the difference of winning 8 to 11. Simmons is a good special teams coach, the schedule is favorable. Henry like it or not, makes a difference when he gets back. The bye will heal a couple of guys. A loss and 8-8 and no playoffs.

As for why people are excited by the possible return of a talented player who hasn't put it all together yet? Well, maybe he's better than the guy who replaced him. But it's not just a case of us being good enough, or the Pats being better...it's a case of us NOT losing the game! Every game so far this season...and most of last...the games we have lost have not been because we weren't good enough or because the other teams were better. It was because we lost the games we already had won through stupid errors. Don't press the self-destruct button on Monday, and we CAN beat them. ncbengal
fellas, why all the doom and gloom? We lost 2 road games we were in position to win. Not like we were TOTALLY blown out of any game. I am here to say the Bengals will win and the 12th man will be the difference! Ill go as far to say that special teams will be the POSTIVE difference in this game. IE a punt return or forced fumble....
