Purplehayz
Wow I was so confident that we would smash the Browns that I bet a Steeler fan here at work $100 bucks!!! Our defense is so frustrating and this years team reminds me more and more like the Rams a few years ago. I mean they could score a ton but their D couldn't stop a high school team so they would just get into shoot outs and try to out score everyone. If we don't get our D straightened out soon it's gonna get real ugly real fast. What can we do???
CJBestInAFC
Try to score as many points as possible, fire Chuck Breshnahan, let Marvin take over the D. If there is no improvement from the D fire Marvin. Hire someone that actually knows a little bit about coaching a Defense. All they need on D is to be average and the Bengals will be making the playoffs every year. Maybe they need to trade Levi Jones for a solid LB instead of playing guys like Landon, Marshall, and Caleb who are backups on any other team. Maybe trade Justin Smith because he is ripping the Bengals off. I think they need to make a move on defense and it needs to be real soon. HoosierCat
What can we do???1. Ditch the "Wimpy" defensive scheme and go back to the attacking style the team used in the first game.2. Cross your fingers and hope Hall, JJoe, Nduke, Brooks and White all grow up in a hurry.3. Cross your fingers that guys like Kimer and Jeanty can get healthy and bolster both the D and STs.4. Give Glenn Holt the No. 3 WR job.5. Cut Caleb Miller. Sign Hartwell or Muncy or some PS scrub from another team, I don't care.
DC_Bengals_Fan
1. Ditch the "Wimpy" defensive scheme and go back to the attacking style the team used in the first game.So how clear is it now: 1)Aggressive blitzing yields 6 turnovers and 2-13 on 3rd down against a decent offense that includes a tough veteran QB and the RB that the Ravens dumped Jamal Lewis in favor of,2) Soft prevent with little QB pressure yields 1 turnover and 51 points by a terrible offense that includes Brady Quinn's stopgap and the RB that the Ravens dumped. Is it clear enough now? What else has to happen to get rid of pu**yball?
CarsonCity
Some of you guys think all you have to do is blitz more and all the defensive problems will be solved. During yesterday's game, the Bengals got burned repeatedly when they brought the blitz because it got picked up nearly every single time. When your physical freak Ahmad Brooks out of the game, the legitimate options of players to blitz with takes a drastic hit.Blitzing more will only work if it's done effectively/creatively. The "pressure" that was brought yesterday only served to take players away from coverage, resulting in a lot of 1 on 1 mismatches. And as we all saw for ourselves, even a QB as poor as Derek freaking Anderson can exploit those situations.Oh yeah, it doesn't help when you can't stop an over-the-hill RB either. Ickey44
You can't stop an over-the-hill runner if you're completely out of position and nowhere near him. Again, bad coaching....

The "pressure" that was brought yesterday only served to take players away from coverage, resulting in a lot of 1 on 1 mismatches. That's very true - what was it Hines Ward said last year, 'it was their blitz of the day and they kept running it'? Just bringing an extra guy without thinking about how to do it to explot weaknesses in the offensive protection doesn't do anything - except remove a DB or LB, as you say.So get to the drawing board, Chuck. Figure out how to get pressure on the QB. With or without blitzes.

If there is no improvement from the D fire Marvin.I couldn't have said it any better myself CJ. Marvin may have plateaued here in Cincy. No longer can I say "In Marvin I Trust". Why? I'm tired of getting f**ked in the ass by the defense! If he was such a wizard defensively elsewhere, explain the troubles he's had in the Queen City. Injuries, suspensions, Mikie? Tell that story walking chump. I nominate this post of CJ's post of the Year!
