Ah, the annual Forbes numbers. Always a treat. I have to say, they lend support to those owners who regard Mikey's dire warnings of financial disaster as something akin to the rambling of a crazy uncle at Thanksgiving dinner.

Mikey wants to increase shared revenues? Well, heck, let's go whole hog and share everything. The whole $6.469 billion that the Forbes revenues figures add up to. Divided by 32 teams, that's $202 million smackers each.

A whopping $8 million more than the $194 million the Bengals, per Forbes, rake in now. Revenues up 4.1%! Woo-hoo!

I'd say the opposite is true. Our favorite crazy uncle may look spiffy wearing a sailor hat made out of tin foil, but he's not pleading poverty or warning about a looming doomsday. Instead, he's a small market based multi-millionaire explaining the challenges of trying to compete with mega-millionairs and a major market few billionaires. Granted, Joe Sixpack is never going to have much sympathy when any millionaire pleads financial hardship, but the numbers back Mikey up.

Again, if you look at the numbers you'll find that most teams in the NFL aren't widely seperated in the amount they generate. In fact, the lowest rated Vikings bring in only 12 million less than the 20th ranked Bengals, and Cincinati's numbers don't look vastly different from many teams ranked just ahead. But at the very top of the rankings you find a handful of teams that blow all of the other teams out of the water....including a Redskin franchise that pockets a staggering 112 million dollars more than the Bengals....a competitive advantage that is repeated year after year after year. And it doesn't end there. Check out operating income. The Redskins 66 million dollar total is nearly six times more than the Bengals.

Last, look at the teams whose franchise value ranks below the Bengals and see how many are in the process of building new stadiums that they insist are absolutely vital if they're to increase their revenue streams enough to prevent them from falling even farther behind. And that's what revenue sharing is supposed to address.

By mocking 8 million as a paltry figure you're actually making Mike Brown's argument for him. Because I'm pretty sure the Bengals will receive a little more than 2 million under the current revenue sharing system.

Woo-hoo indeed.

I call dibs on the redhead in the front row.

If anyone would have a thing for "Fire Bush" I knew it would be you!

Weird thing about that. DadOnFire rarely gave me advice, but once warned me...."Be careful around redheads, as they'll even pick a fight with you during sex."
