JPW
Today seemed like an object lesson on "how to make the least out of 5 Picks in the first 2 Rounds of the NFL Draft".Hope I am Totally Wrong....PS The talking heads on ESPN seem to think that the Bengals did just fine. Is that a good sign or the kiss of death ?
jditty47
like i said in another thread...solid draft not spectacular, but solid.
chrishcovga
Kiss of DEATH...1st. round .. passed on best back in the draft to take a runningback any ways to back up Rudi..?? -- stupid..2nd. Ratliff- 12th highest rated corner, slow 4.6 speed, short 5'10... when Matt Ware, Strait, and others were available.M.Williams - passed on Sean Jones ... nuff said.3rd, Two linebackers that we could have got to play special teams tomorrow -- terrible picksFolks, we passed on Odom twice, Starks 3 times, Dockett twice, Hill twice, we didn't draft a TE, Guard of Center, and our secondary picks could have come in day 2 at the worst. Nathan Vasher fell to round 4, so how does that tell you how prepared we were..STupid.... PIcks.. dumb draft...

Is that a good sign or the kiss of death ? Well the fact that professionals think the team did a good job boosts my confidence in this draft so far...Those guys normally seem so eager to rip the Bengals that praise is impressive...And do remember, these guys get paid to evaluate these things. I trust Marvin and his staff and from what I've seen I like it so far...Seems the common element for the D picks would be speed....as for Perry, The Bengals actually have a good history with drafting running backs (except KC and that had an unforseen injury in that, still sucked) and Jim Anderson will make sure he's a good back....So I'm sure there will be plenty of fans ripping this draft....but really, as long as Marvin is happy with the picks then it's all good.... schweinhart
i look at the Pats with wilfork and hill with their first 2 and can't help feel something went wayward -- but if you look at it there are upgrades at lb,cb, and ss from free agency and the draft.just not d-line yet

JPW
My point was, that I question the Value that we got for the Picks that we had.It seemed that almost every Pick was a Reach, almost like we were Drafting a Round later than we were. But since someone mentioned upgrades, let me ask this.Just Who do you think these Picks are going to Replace?Who will they be Upgrades For ?I tell ya what, there were at least 2 DTs and a DE who Would have been an Upgrade. We wasted picks on s**t we didn't need. I cannot watch this insanity another day. See you guys around Tuesday.
LABengalsFan09
This is the worst draft i have seen by any team in a long time!!!passed on Will poole to take ratliff...passed on passed on darnell dockett and chad lavalais...passed on SEAN JONES...the best safety in the draft behind Sean Taylor...passed on antwan odom...How were they drafting these players? Did they turn their draft boards upside down and select the worst player left on their board?!?!?!?Shame on you Marvin Lewis. I have never been so embarrased with 5 players in my entire life. Just because you have 5 picks does not mean you can just close your eyes and select anybody. Poole, Lavalais,Nick Leckey, and Demmorio Willams are still available. Do not blow a chance to redeem this lackluster mockey of a first day. This was a Mike Brown of old draft, reach after reach until all of the talent is on other teams rosters. Some f**ked up picks went down today. The first time the Bengals defense gets their collective asses run the f**k over...I'll be bringing this up again, you can count on this! Our draft was so terrible, it didn't even get rated as poor or good.Well...maybe because it wasn't the disaster you think it was? I mean, c'mon, the Bengals have taken heartthrobs in the draft before -- Wilkinson, Ki-Jana, Akili, Reinard -- and crapped out. I can remember being all hot 'n' bothered over guys like Leonard Davis and Jimmy Kennedy, who haven't exactly set the NFL world on fire. And I can remember flippin' out over what I thought were horrible picks before (Levi Jones comes to mind) and having to happily eat crow. Hell, I'll betcha anyone we took today works out better than Sean Brewer!billy:Joisey...that ain't gonna do it. Some fine piece of ass sitting on my face wouldn't even do it right now.All I can say is that maybe you're just takin' your football a wee bit too seriously, then... (and yeah, I had to use that smiley, all things considered!) You know what Joisey , I agree with you .. It wasn't a complete disaster.. It just could have been a great draft. We could have gotten some really special players.. But I think we took some chances we didn't have to .. Let me say this again.. 1. I like Perry, glad we got him, but I would be tap' dancin if we got S.Jackson or traded him for more than a 4th rounder..2. i like Ratliff, I think his best football is ahead of him ( it's on my mock for gods' sakes ) But no one is gonna convince me that he's a 2nd rounder. 3. I like Madieu Williams , loved his potential and the things his coaches said about him ( So yes I am privy ' to that stuff ) - But I thought he would have been a better pick in round 3.4. I don't like Caleb Miller... He's not athletic, but I do hope his football instincts outweigh his lack of bulk.5. I really don't have an opinion on London Johnson other than the fact that I think Khalid Abdullah has nothing to worry about. Hey Maybe you guys are right and I' am wrong ( doubt it ) Perhaps this is a great draft, and Last years' was the mistake !

That's why this is called a forum. I don't even have to be right , although I'm sure I am. - If you don't think I"m willing to eat crow if Caleb Miller turns out to be the next Zach Thomas , you have another thing coming.and the Espn Guys have been wrong before.. especially about our picks.. They ripped us for guys we missed on like Akili, Kijana, Klingler etc.. but didn't give us credit for guys like Chad Johnson, Rudi Johnson , Jeremi Johnson and Levi Jones..As a matter of fact heres' Mel the Hair Kiper on these guys..1. Chad Johnson 2nd rounder - Mel: Why they're passing on Fred Smoot, I'll never understand.2. Levi Jones 1st rounder - Mel : Why didn't they take Shockey..? They could have traded down Oakland wanted that pick , but that's why they're the Bengals .3. Rudi Johnson - Mel : No comment ! Pick only went on the screen, we didn't even get a film clip.. I have the tape to prove it!4. Jeremi Johnson - Mel : In my projection I had Cincy' taking Rien Long sometime in this draft, They lost Neal, and they're gonna miss him even more with the time it'll take Jeremi Johnson to develop..etc. etc. etc.. Anyone want the tapes.. ? send addresses..
