Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think Odell Thurman was ever a prisoner. I'm pretty sure he violated probation and not parole. Very different animal all together. He failed to report to his PO (probation officer) not PO (parole officer). I've heard a couple media outlets get this wrong and I just want to clarify it. Our team already looks bad enough we don't need it to appear any worse.

A probation violation can lead to jail time. The reason a person get a probation officer is probation is an alternative to jail time sentenced. If a person violates probation, they can be forced to serve all or some suspended jail time, or they can just get a slap on the wrist. A missed probation meeting often leads to more probation time and nothing more (other times it will be "just don't do that again or we will send you to jail). Depends on the probation official and the judge. He could end up in jail, but I doubt it.

I think what's sad is that anyone can start a rumor and we as Bengal fans have to do hoework to find out if it's true because at this point we'd believe anything is freakin' possible with these guys.

Based on the timing, I doubt Goodell was aware of the probation issue when he denied the reinstatement.

Good timing or not, his doubts appear to be justified.

Jared Allen of the Chiefs, got 2 DUI`s in a 4 month span.

He should have been entered into stage 2 intervention

for the Substance Abuse policy, which is an automatic

4 game suspension. And he should have been subjected

to the Conduct policy, for being arrested twice in a 4 month span.

He got a 4 game suspension, and got it REDUCED to 2 games.

To say Odell is being treated fairly, is laughable.

Odell has kept his nose clean. He missed an appointment with his PO.

And the more I think about it, the more I`m sure there has to be

a valid reason. Think about it, no one, not Eric Ball, Odell`s Agent,

his Attorney, his family and/or friends made sure Odell was

at that appointment. It seems to me like for whatever reason,

(maybe the wrong name and address they had on the complaint

that was filed) no one knew about it. I find that hard to believe

that none of his handlers, or the team (who had a room waiting

for him at Training Camp and urged him to appeal) wouldn`t

have had him at that meeting, and/or wouldn`t have known

he missed it, when everyone is acting like Goodell had to have

known Odell missed it, and THAT`S why his reinstatement was denied.

Oh and as far as Odell being the cause of the rumor, no, it

was supposed to have been Henry got arrested in Kentucky

at 4 am with pot.

Don't misunderstand me.

I'm not saying that Goodell was necessarily aware of this information when he made the call. I also did not say that it was in step with all of his other decisions around the league. It's possible that his decision was entirely out of line.

All I'm saying is that regardless of how reasonable or unreasonable the decision may have been at the time, I'm still not going to say it was necessarily a bad call.

To say emphatically that Odell has kept his nose clean seems a bit naive at this point. The best you can say is that Odell "might" have kept his nose clean according to the information we are privy to.

Maybe I'm wrong, and maybe I'm not. None of us really have all of the facts on the situation. However, if given the two choices that Odell has either toed the line like a good boy or he hasn't, then I'm going to have to lean towards the latter.
