There it is then. That slot should be pretty effin' obvious...

Actually, there is speculation (I heard it on the radio) that Brady Quinn's (pick #22) agent (Tom Condon) is coming up with some unique parameters in the contract, and other agents don't want to have their 1st rounders sign for disadvantageous (big word!) terms. That would impact their future top prospect recruiting.

If that's the case, it might be awhile. Brady's Holdout May Be A Long One

Hall's agent said (I believe in one of Hobson's pieces) that he wasn't looking at the Brady Quinn situation as a problem. So at this point there's no reason, money-wise, for this to go on much longer. The general "slot" is there. With all the other picks in or nearly in, the money left in the rookie pool is what it is. I expect that it will come down to incentive and escalator language, as usual, and when Hall gets in depends on how much of a hard case each side wants to be.

I will admit that I am no fan of Quinn's up front.

Why does he or his agent believe he deserves more money than what any other player drafted at #22 would have gotten?

All in all, hopefully he breaks the bank and is a total bust, as I believe is very possible keeping the Stains right were they belong for many more seasons.

I think Quinn's argument (or more likely his agent's argument) is that since the Browns gave up their first round pick for next year, Quinn should get most of the money the Browns would have been spending on next year's 1st round pick. It sounds to me like a ploy to save face in spite of the fact he fell farther than anyone thought.

Yeah, but then the Browns counter that argument that they believe their team will be sufficiently better this year such that their first round pick next year will be in the middle of the round.

Condon is trying to Quinn a whole lot more coin based on the idea some teams had Quinn as the number 1 quarterback

and a likely top 3 pick. Unless the Browns front office is stupid, there is no way they will pay top 3 money to the 22nd

pick.
