agreen_112
How does Narron keep him in the lineup? The dude has a super cannon from anywhere in the Outfield and he batted .402 in spring. This kid is looking really good, and the comeback story just makes you want to pull for this guy. The only problem is that our OF's are Dunn, Freel, and Griffey, how will Narron make room to keep Hamilton in the lineup?
Defender
Wait until Freel or Griffey gets hurt, you can clock those things with an egg-timer...

He hasn't played much there, but I do recall he was put there a few times in the past few years. Not sure I like him there (errors), but he is a big target. Do you know if he is opposed to that? BengalszoneBilly
Wait until Freel or Griffey gets hurt, you can clock those things with an egg-timer...Yeah, eventually Junior will want to go home and play with his kids who are sure to be a little rough on their old man and will end up injuring him all over again. duus
What would we do with Hatteberg?I understand that ... but tell me what 4 of these 5 bats/speed/defense you would want if position had nothing to do with it?Josh HamiltonKen GriffeyRyan FreelScott HattebergAdam DunnRight now, I say what they are doing is the right 4 (i.e. Hamilton on the bench). But if he continues down the path he has shown, then something might have to give. Then again, as others have said, surely Griffey will be injured soon so it will likely work itself out. redsbengalsbucks
I like the way he is getting playing time now. Rotate the OF postion playing the hot hitters a little when hot. It is nice to have depth for an injury that always seem to happen.I would like to see less of Ross behind the plate for now, he is looking bad at the plate, let Moeller have a couple games to see what he can do. Ross may be playing alot because of his control of the young pitchers which is a big reason he is the main Catcher and Valentine's value as a switch hitting pinch bat. WhoDeyForever
Start Hamilton over Freel every chance you get...Put Freel back in the infield
Kirkendall
Keep this guy in the lineup. You have to ride his bat right now... Here's my thoughts...Dunn stays in left field. The combo of Hatteberg and Conine is a solid one. Combined, they've hit two Homers, two doubles, a triple and eight RBIs. Staggering? No. Solid with two veterans rested? Yes. Also, besides Hamilton, Conine has the highest slugging percentage on the team with the best EQA (.386). Not too bad for a 41-year old. Griffey too has struggled and I don't envision him playing the full season. He'll get hurt at some point and Hamilton will have a full time job. But, to me, the odd man out would be Freel. But he wouldn't lose much playing time. Freel will be able to play everyday but rotating positions enabling rest for the other starters. However, Freel can NOT play everyday -- he's proven to struggle mightily when he plays too many games in a row. He just wears himself out. You can play him at third while Edwin "I don't want to run out of the batters box because I'm going to be out anyway" Encarnicion has struggled.I like the way he is getting playing time now. Moeller's bat isn't better than Ross (not by a long shot) and since Ross has come over, our starters are pitching better. IMHO, he calls a good game. kentjett
Ross will be fine, baseball is a game of streaks. As far as Hamilton goes, he should be playing everyday. There are 3 players that give quality at bats every time, Conine, Hatteberg, and Hamilton. They're the only batters that work the pitcher on a consistent basis. Phillips and Dunn are much improved in this category but they still swing at a lot of bad pitches.
Stripes
I certainly like what I've seen from Hamilton so far (he already looks like the most talented player on the team), but I don't think Narron should go out of his way just yet to get him in the lineup frequently. Griffey and Hatteburg are both very important to that offense, and keeping either one out for Hamilton too often sounds like a double edged sword to me. He's trying way to hard to justify him batting in the #3 spot so he's swinging way harder on bad breaking pitches. Note also that when he bats behind Dunn, and Dunn smokes one 625 feet, that Phillips tries to do the same thing.I certainly like what I've seen from Hamilton so far (he already looks like the most talented player on the team), but I don't think Narron should go out of his way just yet to get him in the lineup frequently. I say you play the hot bat for now and see where it gets you. Last night, the Reds scored on a 2-run pinch hit double by Valentine and a solo by Hamilton. Neither are regular starters... brau09
how do you keep a guy out of the lineup when the last 2 nights he's had the best at-bats of the entire team. plus if not for him they might not have even won last night. he is definately the feel-good story of the year so far, plus he the last few games he has been like the catalyst for the team. hell of an arm also. Stripes
I'm worried he might have Clint Barmes syndrome. After a trip around the big leagues, pitchers will be more ready to handle him. No denying he's hitting well now though, and has the talent to continue such.
Whur CHad At?
Just because he has two really good games doesnt mean he should be starting full time. Give it time, he will eventually start. Im still waiting for Homer. I got the homermania

Give him a couple of games off and let Moeller have a shot at starting in the bigs before he is sent back to AAA. Hopefully he can do better than Ross's 1 for 23 slump to start the season.
