Assuming we go WR on the first day of the draft

Recommended Posts

Now that Henry has been suspended it's more likely that we will draft an offensive player on the first day because in addition to losing Henry we only have 1 TE with game experience and Chris Perry is still a question mark.

If we draft a wr, I would love to see us draft Dwayne Bowe from LSU, he's a beast.

What wr would you like to see us draft?

Lets just ignore any thinking of taking anything more than defense on day one and think about how our defense will improve after day one. Quite frankly, if we take offense on day one, #1. I will vomit violently all over whomever is seated next to me watching the computer #2. Will lose complete faith in the WR corps we currently have.

If anyone believes a day one (let's go ahead and say 2nd round) WR will come in and gives us more than what we already have on the roster, I will say you are crazy. Henry will be back after 8 games, roll with what we've got...

WHODEY !!!

Assuming the Bengals did take a WR the first day, it would have to be Gonzalez in the second round. Gonzalez has sure hands and some say he is faster than Ginn. He would be the perfect third WR.

Some are wrong. Teddy's the fastest player I've ever seen on a football field. He might not time well when he eventually runs the 40, but with the ball in his hands...man. His straight line speed is remarkable and I'd LOVE to see the Bengals draft Teddy. I'd be downright giddy, but that's the OSU homer in me speaking, I suppose.

Other than Ginn, the receivers I'd like the Bengals to look at are:

Sidney Rice - S. Carolina

Anthony Gonzalez - OSU

Aundrae Allison - ECU

Johnny Lee Higgins - UTEP

David Clowney - VT

Ginn or Gonzalez I would love...If we don't take one early I would love to see us take Yamon Figurs from Kansas State..He has amazing speed and could help us out in the return game also. Also, keep an eye on Matt Trannon from Michigan State..He has great build and has also played basketball for MSU..If we pick up Trannon we could end up moving him to TE.

I think Ginn is the next Peter Warrick.

That might be too much credit. I say Rocket Ismail. Warrick would have been decent but for injuries. Ginn is a speedster, but not much more.

Ginn might be more of a Devin Hester/Desmond Howard type. You'll fear his punt and kick-off returns... but invisible in every other capacity.

Ummm..and Devin Hester isn't a playmaker? :whistling:

Hester is a play maker - for punt returns and kick-offs. I thought I said that... Hey, I did say that! What my point was is that Hester is not a guy you want on the field any other time. He sucks in coverage. He's just a great punt returner. Great for 2nd day draft picks... big disappointment for a 1st round draft pick.

Ginn won't be Devin Hester. I'm not even convinced Devin Hester will be Devin Hester. His rookie season was an anomaly, and should not be expected to re-occur.

The likelihood that Ted Ginn Jr. can duplicate his success as a special teamer is tiny, and furthermore, the likelihood that he develops into a consistent receiver doesn't appear much better.

I love the Buckeyes as much as the next guy, but I love the Bengals more. Keep him off my team.

Check it out from Great Blue North Draft Report about Ted Ginn's workout at OSU today.

"For the record, most NFL teams were in attendance, including three head coaches: Scott Linehan of St. Louis, Cincinnati’s Marvin Lewis and Miami’s Cam Cameron. Based on who showed up in Columbus, the Rams and Dolphins appeared to be the most interested as Miami head coach Cameron was accompanied by Dolphins’ GM Randy Mueller, while Rams VP for player personnel Tony Softli was in town along with coach Linehan. Ginn will hold a private workout for Washington next Monday."

Marvin checking him out. Says what about Cincy's interest in a WR?

As many touchdowns he scored..He is a 1st day pick.
