NJ29
Although ridiculously unlikely, we are being mentioned a one of the teams that could trade for Samuel. Would that automatically mean the loss of the first rounder? Or is there anyway we could trade Smith, and pick up a DE like Jarvis Moss in round 1? BlainThePain
I don't see the Pats needing or being able to use Smith. I also don't like Jarvis Moss. There have been questions about his commitment to football.
Walrus
Although ridiculously unlikely, we are being mentioned a one of the teams that could trade for Samuel. Would that automatically mean the loss of the first rounder? Or is there anyway we could trade Smith, and pick up a DE like Jarvis Moss in round 1?Since he won't be going to the Bengals, I think the biggest impact likely to come out of a Samuel trade would be one less team would be looking to draft a CB high which might cause somebody to drop a little. ArmyBengal
With Samuel wanting big (see Nate Clements 8 years 80 million) there is no possible chance (see snowballs chance in hell) of him coming to Cincinnati...Patriots | Samuel wants a deal on par with top cornerbacksSun, 8 Apr 2007 11:43:11 -0700Albert Breer, of the Boston Herald, reports New England Patriots CB Asante Samuel want a long-term deal similar to San Francisco 49ers CB Nate Clements' deal, which was worth $80 million over eight years with a $22 million guarantee. He might be willing to come in under that, but he wants more than the $16 million guaranteed that Denver Broncos CB Dre' Bly received, since he is the No. 2 cornerback and is almost four years Samuel's senior.WHODEY !!! Whur CHad At?
Nope I think we should resign Tory James(a beeter player) or another below average DB before we even consider Samuel. We wouldnt have money problems if 80% of it wasnt all in the offense.

HoosierCat
Nope I think we should resign Tory James(a beeter player) or another below average DB before we even consider Samuel.Oddly enough, reports are that the Pats are actually sniffing around Tory...Belichick managed to make a decent SS out of Toast...if anyone could squeeze a last years worth of value out of James it would be him. schweinhart
It's sounding like the Pats are about to lose Randall Gay also so Bellichick has to go out and wave his magic DB wand and make Tory James look like a Pro Bowler again. If they do trade Samuel to the Skins, they'd take Landry and kick down Eugene Wilson to corner until Rodney Harrison gets hurt again.
