TJJackson
The price is to high, imho. He's a good solid player asking for superstar type money. He'd help, but he is no superstar.Overpay for superstars, not solid starters.IMO, Samuel is one of the top 3 corners in the league.I can maybe see where some folks migh think him a top 3 corner, but I suspect that most folks would not even place him in the top 10. He's no superstar.
BengalChamps
This whole senario is unlikely...but I'll play along. Would you rather overpay Justin or Asante? I would rather overpay Asante. I think JSmith is more replacable in the draft and maybe!? Pollack will be able to play DE.
Stripes
I'd rather overpay Justin for one season than Asante for five.
Kazkal
According to NFL Live there aren't any teams talking to the Patriots, at this time, about a possible trade.80million + a 1st rounder isen't worth a 1 year wonder...I'd rather overpay Justin for one season than Asante for five.yup. give us top rated CB on the board and call it good. ArmyBengal
I posted this in the NFL forum and it applies here as well...Patriots | Samuel wants a deal on par with top cornerbacksSun, 8 Apr 2007 11:43:11 -0700Albert Breer, of the Boston Herald, reports New England Patriots CB Asante Samuel want a long-term deal similar to San Francisco 49ers CB Nate Clements' deal, which was worth $80 million over eight years with a $22 million guarantee. He might be willing to come in under that, but he wants more than the $16 million guaranteed that Denver Broncos CB Dre' Bly received, since he is the No. 2 cornerback and is almost four years Samuel's senior. It's not going to happen...WHODEY !!! agreen_112
Here's the perfect oppurtuninty for the Bengals to pick up a player that will give our defense, and ultimately the offense, the extra boost we need to get over the top. Call him what you want, but this 1 player would help our team in so many ways. What he did at the end of the year and in the playoffs would've singlehandedly helped Brady win the SB, if only Brady had some WR's. This is what the Bengals need to get over that hump and become a top notch team. #$%#@$% figure out a way to get this guy, NOW!
derekshank
Yeah!!! And if Peyton Manning had been our back-up QB in 2005, we'd have won the Super Bowl. Damn that salary cap.Samuel wants way too much long-term money. We have too many problems on the defense to spend all of our money on one player. He can't play DT, WSLB, and CB at the same time can he? Let's just draft a CB in round 1. It's a much cheaper and more effective (long-term) way to go.
