kayaker0678
Texans | Team on verge of acquiring SchaubWed, 21 Mar 2007 10:38:20 -0700Jay Glazer, of FOXSports.com, reports the Atlanta Falcons and Houston Texans are on the verge of a trade that would send QB Matt Schaub to the Texans in exchange for a swapping of first-round draft picks in this year's NFL Draft, a second-round draft pick in this year's draft and a second-round pick in 2008. Schaub is trying to work out a long-term deal with the Texans. While the deal is not yet finalized, it is expected to be completed Wednesday, March 21. Stripes
I'm not sure why so many teams seem to be madly in love with Matt Schaub. I've never seen enough from him to tell me he'd be worth a first and two second rounders.Seems like a stupid deal for Houston, especially considering Carr's ability. HoosierCat
per espn.com Wright is the leaing candidate for the backup role in Atlanta...One of the strong candidates to replace Schaub as the backup to Vick, ESPN.com has learned, is Anthony Wright, who played with the Cincinnati Bengals in 2006. While the deal is not yet finalized, it is expected to be completed Wednesday, March 21.Those are some high draft picks for that guy, wish we had somebody on our bench that could command such a thing. I tell you what Schaub better be all that for them to give all that up for him, especially when you already have a number one draft pick quarterback. I just knew that Cleveland was going to make a deal to get him, guess that thought goes out the window. I was sold on Cleveland getting Adrian Peterson but maybe they are looking to bring Brady "Crybaby" Quinn in. If Cleveland thinks that Charlie Frye is their future quarterback they are going to be in the cellar for a long time. I do give the boys up North credit for not making this trade though, I think Houston gave up too much for him. They are going to have to ship David Carr out of their though, I can only guess that he has to be disgruntled seeing this after all those sacks he took for that franchise. They are lying if they come out and say they are competing for the starting job, there is no way in hell you give up all that for a backup. BlainThePain
The Falcons made off like bandits. This is the most lopsided trade since the Ricky Williams deal.

Dawg BpG
The Texans, basically ARE the old Cleveland Browns as far as trades and offseason moves are concerned.-Mat Schaub is basically Kelly Holcomb, we traded up a 2nd round for KW2.-Ahman Green is old and injury prone, Lee suggs-They passed on two studs Bush and Young, BOTH Area of need.-The Browns passed on L. Tomlison, Richard Setmore, Justin Smith For Gerard Warren.-All the while they have had one of the most BRUTAL ofensive lines in the game, but they think it is the QB it ain't the QB fellas, it's the Oline.Terrible trade for the Texans. Poor, Poor Texan fan.... Look for ATL to trade up for CJ.

Poor, Poor Texan fan.... Look for ATL to trade up for CJ.If your Browns are smart they will swap picks with Atlanta in the first round and add one of those second round picks Atlanta has now. The Browns still can get Adrain Peterson at the 8th pick, none of the teams in front of you guys at the 8th pick need a running back. Let's see if this great GM that you are quick to praise is able to pull off this deal. That's if Atlanta really wants Calvin Johnson, who would be a outstanding pick for them to pick up being that he is talented plus he is a local boy since he played his college career in Atlanta, that pick leaves Michael Vick without any excuses. James_Brooks21
All-Pro guard Alan Faneca, an offensive co-captain, has not attended the Steelers' voluntary workouts. Under normal circumstances, it might not even be noted, but Faneca publicly questioned the Steelers' decision to bypass his line coach, Russ Grimm, for the job that Mike Tomlin ultimately got.-- Pittsburgh Post-GazetteIt's going to take a year or two for these guys to buy into Tomlin, that's good for the Bengals we can beat there tails with them questioning every move that man makes. I can't wait until he switches there defense, believe me he does not want to stay in that 3-4, he only has done it because the city of Pittsburgh has so much love for Dick Labeau and that 3-4 defense. They are going to really question him when he switches up and I think that is going to spell the end of Labeau in Pittsburgh.

Reminds me of Scott Mitchell and AJ Feeley, each of whom got fat contracts off of about 4 games of decent work. The only thing I don't know about him is whether he can run. And he'd better be able to, with Texas' offensive line.
kayaker0678
Texans | Schaub signsThu, 22 Mar 2007 09:22:51 -0700John McClain, of the Houston Chronicle, reports the Houston Texans have signed restricted free-agent QB Matt Schaub to a six-year contract worth $48 million with $7 million guaranteed. Schaub will receive $20 million in the first three years. If Schaub stays with the team the last three years of the contract, the Texans will have to pay Schaub a $10 million option bonus in 2010. The Texans paid QB David Carr an $8 million option in 2006 to keep him for the last three years of his contract.

Kazkal
Texans stll have a crappy front office,48million + 2 2nds for a backup?I hope Carr lands with a decent team and shows he's preatty good QB....Hard to look good when your most sacked QB in history. Stripes
I don't want Carr to land in Cleveland... their line is better than Houston's, and he'd have multiple capable receivers to work with. The Browns are a QB (and a lineman or two) short of fielding a formidable offense, and Carr would be a great fit for them.
Kazkal
Aye huge upgrade over charlie...plus i want to see him go to a team that might be successful in 2-3 years vs browns who are doomed 4 ever.Hell Raiders could be a choice.1st-Calvin Johnson2nd-Joe Staley or Tony Ugoh3rd-Best guard or Center available3rd(moss)-Best guard or center available. With gallery on the right side should be quite abit improvement and should be solid line in a few years. HoosierCat
Even when he gets protection and has a run game to help him Carr still makes bad decisions.
