James_Brooks21
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2793305That almost guarantees that the Browns are going to take Adrian Peterson, if they were counting on Jamal Lewis to be there future back they would have given him a long term contract. Bengals looks like you are going to have to deal with a good one for a while, but you never know it's been a lot of running backs that we thought was a sure shot and look at how they turned out. HoosierCat
That's a steal for the Browns, I think...good move. With Jamal they may still pass on RB in the first. OL still has to be tempting. I'd be aiming to trade down were I them, tho...

Dawg BpG
This does not guarantee we are drafting Peterson, not at all. This was a salary move plain and simple. Tim Carters 2 mil contract is done in 2008.We would have had a cap hit of 3.5 mil, if we had cut Droughns this year NEXT SEASON the 3.5 mil would have hit our cap. So while this does nothing for us this year (like 300,000 dollars off our books) we save 3.5 mil next season when Tim Carter AND Rueben Droughns come off our books, no idea what Tim Carter cap hit would be, but Ruebens will be 3.5.What does that mean? More cap for next years free agency.Got to love having a REAL GM.I thank the lord everyday for Phil Savage, after Clark, and poilicy and butch davis, he is like a godsend.PS we still take Joe Thomas if he comes to #3. In a press conference phone call from Jamal Lewis, he said he came here because he was familiar with Phil savage AND that he expects us to "Do more" than just sign Eric Steinbachwhat does that mean....we are targeting Joe Thomas. IMOIn other news, Marvin Lewis was found scratching his nut sack in his house back in Cincinnati while watching college basketball.haha, not being active in free agency means you either 1. have cap issues, or 2. have a good team already....Which one are the Bengals? You decide...

IMOYou are smoking some good stuff up North, Cleveland is not targeting Joe Thomas stop being foolish. Romeo Crennel needs to win like now, Cleveland is not going to draft a lineman in the first round this year, even if someone jumped ahead of them and took Peterson I guarantee they would take Calvin Johnson instead of Joe Thomas. When you need to produce now like Crennel needs to you get that stud offensive player that you need. I know you probably think that Jamal Lewis is the answer because you are used to him killing you guys but Jamal Lewis in not an elite back anymore. Who cares what Jamal said he was coming there, people say great stuff when they are about to sign that contract, but what it comes down to it why he truly came there was that you guys were offering him the biggest contract for next year. Do you think that Jamal Lewis actually thinks that in that one year contract that he signed that you guys are going to be better then any team in the AFC North? Hell no, you will be bottom feeders again like you were this year, if you believe anything else you are just lying to yourself. Your GM is garbage too, I don't know why you like him like that all the guys he brought in has underacheived. Your team has not improved since he got there why would you like a guy like that, he appeases people like you by being active in free agency but the guys he is bringing in are not contributing. All the credit I can give that guy is that stud you guys got in the first round last year (Wimbley) I know it was not his fault that Bentley got hurt but why did you guys get rid of Faine he was not that bad plus he was a whole lot cheaper, other then that tell me what has he done that makes him a Godsend. This is the cleveland browns, and Phil Savage will do what is right for the cleveland Browns, so saying crennell needs to win now has nothing to do with our draft. Saying we haven't improved? HA, we gutted our whole team which was ful of bumbs. We have and are improving n No matter what you think. We were in salary cap hell when PHil Savage showed up, we couldn't go after top free agents because we had no cap. Phil cleared that up.It is comical how much you are down playing Jamal Lewis, I can't beleive people think he isn't an upgrade from Rueben droughns He is, and no matter how much you downplay it, your words won't take away from him being a better player for our team.It is so hilarious that you think drafting Calvin Johnson wil help us win now....because all playoff teams have STUD WR, The Bengals have 3 good WR Ya Phil has some underacheivers, so what, every GM has those, every team in the league has those. He also got rid of Rueben Droughns contract, where in past years we would have cut him, and took his cap hit next seaon. Ya, thats a eal GM.I never said we were gonna go win the division and we quite possibly be last int he division again, but don't let your Bengal homerism and Browns hate make your brain stop working. We are building a solid core for this team for years to come, you mentioned Wimbley (of course you would, you are obviously a "Sexy player" lover ) Dquell Jackson had over 100 tackles in less than 16 games. Romeo Crennell does not like playing rookies on his starting roster, other picks such as Travis Wilson haven't seen much playing time yet.Of COURSE you left out the part where I said, with the likes of Policy, Clark, and Butch Davis Phil is like a godsend, but apparently you have comprehension issues. Don Banks of SIJamal Lewis, Browns - Lewis' success hinges on who the Browns draft. Obviously, QB Brady Quinn or OT Joe Thomas could help Lewis' numbers, while RB Adrian Peterson would not. The biggest problems for Lewis are the Browns' lack of a passing game and the fact he won't play Clevleand twice this season.Predicted 2007 total: 1,000. Just a tad better then Reuben, never said he was not a upgrade but not by that much. You are right I do have a comprehension issue, I can't comprehend why your team can only put up seven points against the 28th ranked defense in the league. I can't comprehend why you guys always seem to blow leads against Pittsburgh and Baltimore in the 4th quarter. I can't comprehend with all of those high picks you guys have had why you are still the third worst team in the NFL. Romeo Crennel does not like to play rookies, you know why because there is not a spot for them to play. Who was Travis Wilson going to play over?Oh wait now you are going to talk about how bad Dennis Northcutt is since he left, that guy had to play I know he was drafted in the second round but he might as well be a first round pick since he was the 1st pick in the second round. They had to decide if they were going to keep Dennis or get rid of him.Why would I mention D'Qwell Jackson he did not have any sacks any force fumbles or any interceptions, he's a middle linebacker he's supposed to have a whole bunch of tackles but guess what he's not a playmaker.Never did say Calvin Johnson would help you win he would do more then Joe Thomas would do for you right now, you guys have a lot more holes to fill then wr, first you need a franchise quarterback to throw it to him and not those stop gap guys you have now. I don't think anything in the draft will help you win now, maybe down the road but not now. Last time I checked Phil Savage was on the chopping block just like Romeo , maybe I need to rephrase what I said both of those guys need to win now when your best record the last three years is 6-10 somebody is in trouble. I will help Phil Savage out get rid of all these bums Ted Washington, Orpheus Roye,Willie McGinest and Gary Baxter all there doing is collecting a paycheck. It's not a probably you will be in last place again this year, all I have to ask you will it be the 1st or 2nd or third pick next year. Guess what I hope they get him and put Charlie Frye behind him. That's like gift wrapping s**t, the box looks good on the outside but it's s**t behind the box. As long as I have been living, Cleveland has never put two ass whooping on us like we did you guys this year. We have lost twice to you guys in a season but they were never just straight beat downs like you guys took, it looked like we were playing Ohio State for an exhibition or something.
