jditty47 Posted April 18, 2004 Report Posted April 18, 2004 ill believe it when i see it on bengals.com or espn.com...those are the only 2 places that are reliable. Cuz as you know, len pasquerelli is like jesus with football. Quote
EdwardG Posted April 18, 2004 Author Report Posted April 18, 2004 No question. But I am always fascinated by people with "insider knowledge." Usually they crop up on college websites, as just about everyone who's been to college thinks they have some sort of insider knowledge. But the pro wannabe insiders are much more rare. Quote
BengalszoneBilly Posted April 18, 2004 Report Posted April 18, 2004 I'd love to see that trade happen for two reasons...#1: The Bengals would probably get New England's 2nd round pick at worst.#2: We'd get a free shot at Leon...er...I mean Corey this season!! :player: Quote
schweinhart Posted April 18, 2004 Report Posted April 18, 2004 Or get Law. But that would cap out at about $13 mill with the Dillon bonus eaten unless some serious numbers get churned. Quote
KitnasBengals Posted April 18, 2004 Report Posted April 18, 2004 The Patriots are stocked with picks yet, makes sense to me.I wouldn't want Ty Law though, anyone who calls a multi million dollar contract an insult is just a crybaby. Quote
schweinhart Posted April 18, 2004 Report Posted April 18, 2004 I just think he saw the Lawyer Milloy writing on the wall and wanted it to be known he was ready to deal before teams started filling up CBs during free agency. A front loaded signing bonus deal might work. Quote
BengalszoneBilly Posted April 18, 2004 Report Posted April 18, 2004 Dillon for Law?? Straight up?? Good freakin' trade!! Doubt it would happen though. Quote
schweinhart Posted April 18, 2004 Report Posted April 18, 2004 Naw it would break the bank.If a Dillon-Patriots deal goes down it'll probably be more like a swap for #80 and #63. I can't see Bellichick turning loose his first four picks. They need a RB, OL, and a big hoss to fit with Traylor in the 3-4. Plus another LB in the wings and a CB when they cut Law loose. Quote
chrishcovga Posted April 18, 2004 Report Posted April 18, 2004 I doubt any Dillon trade rumors until after Monday's hearing concerning Mike Williams, and Maurice Clarett. * Teams already know Clarett's value, and for those select teams that have enough talent to take a runningback late on day 1 thinking Clarett will be available, might make a run on Dillon after finding out that this years' runningback class just got weaker if Clarett isn't allowed to play in the NFL. turningpoint Posted April 19, 2004 Report Posted April 19, 2004 well on related news Ty law got arrested for speeding. Quote

EdwardG Posted April 19, 2004 Author Report Posted April 19, 2004 Supposedly there is a press conference for the Bengals today at 11:30. Hmmmmm. Quote
Barbarian Posted April 19, 2004 Report Posted April 19, 2004 Mike Brown should give up hope that some other NFL Team wants Cancer....*cough*....Corey for a 2nd rounder.Give it up, Mikey Boy--nobody's going that high.Get rid of him while you have the chance.I could see a deal with the Patriots--but you guys are dreaming if you think they're landing Law. Ty Law is wayyyyyyy too expensive for Mikey's pocketbook.Dillon for Law straight up??? You guys are on crackola. Quote
chrishcovga Posted April 19, 2004 Report Posted April 19, 2004 Supposedly there is a press conference for the Bengals today at 11:30. Hmmmmm. No hint as to what will be said etc etc..?? Hopefully it' will be about Dennis Weathersby and his condition. Marvin and Co. need to address his health to the fans etc. etc. Ed, Let's see if we can't search the Rumor mills' of Profootball talk,GBNReport.com, Draftx, CbsSportsline, to see if we can't find out what it could be about .. EdwardG Posted April 19, 2004 Author Report Posted April 19, 2004 BengalsInsider says it is for Marvin Lewis to "talk about" the draft. That seems kind of weird though.Reporter: Who are you looking at with the 24th pick?ML: We are looking for a player who can help the team.Reporter: Could we see you trade?ML: We have been in discussions with several teams, but we are satisfied with where we pick.Do they need a press conference for that? Quote
denverbengal Posted April 19, 2004 Report Posted April 19, 2004 It regards a preview of the draft, whatever the hell that means. I can't see ML providing much info on that subject. Quote
EdwardG Posted April 19, 2004 Author Report Posted April 19, 2004 I knew there was something to that rumor Quote
Jungle_Fever Posted April 19, 2004 Report Posted April 19, 2004 Anyone notice ML subtleness about moving up? Need a dance partner. Bring on the Jets #12 Im tellin ya. Quote

Somebody gets an A+ for sniffing this one out. I was surprised but happy that they got a 2nd rounder. I wonder if there was a bidding war between NE and maybe Dallas or Oakland that drove the price up. Awsome job by Marvin on this one!!! Quote
jjakq27 Posted April 19, 2004 Report Posted April 19, 2004 ....I am surprised though that they didn't make the announcement earlier today at the press conference. Were they maximizing the drama or did it get finalized after the PC? Quote

JonFnKitna Posted April 20, 2004 Report Posted April 20, 2004 Well, the guy on the insiders was named "PlayerUno". He was flamed for making up a rumor when he said this, and his topic got closed, but it turns out he knew what he was talking about. People there are now wondering who his source is, but he wont tell...http://mb2.theinsiders.com/fbengalsinsider...icID=5871.topic Quote
