bengalsfansince68 Posted February 22, 2007 Report Posted February 22, 2007 Derek proceeds to defend Whur's outrageous assertionNo he didn't. He even left a disclaimer in his post to explain that. Not arguing against the fact that there is a good amount of stupidity floating around here... but:http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/football/...ewis_agreement/Lewis did indeed have murder charges dropped by agreeing to testify against 2 other defendants.Where is the disclaimer that explains that? He acknowledges that there is a lot of stupidity on this board, a fact that is difficult to dispute, but does not acknowledge that Whur's assertion that Ray is guilty of murder is stupid. He in fact implies that due to the fact that some overzealous DA had charged him with murder and been forced by lack of evidence to drop the charges, that perhaps Ray had committed murder and had gotten off on a technicality. And Mr. Thurman, bear in mind that I have come out of the shadows long enough to defend your boy on several occasions. If y'all stop posting stupid crap, I will be happy to stay in the shadows of the big city down here in Texas. And I include all the "dump Odell immediately" posters in the stupid crap category. Quote
bengalsfansince68 Posted February 23, 2007 Report Posted February 23, 2007 I did not set out to win anything, just to point out what a disingenuous statement Whur had made and that no less than two of our guys here defended it?So how many retards do you estimate are on this board? Since I fit the criterion, I must think that there is a luxury liner full of retards here.No offense to retards everywhere intended. Quote
Thurmanation Posted February 23, 2007 Report Posted February 23, 2007 I stand behind anyone that defends my boy Odell..lol As for Ray Lewis, he is a nice guy, but he is crazy sometimes lol Quote

You're making poor assumptions. While I can't speak for Derek, I'd have worded his post the same way he worded it, and my meaning wouldn't have been what you inferred it was. In your original post, you acted as though connecting Ray Lewis with the term "murder" in any fashion is idiotic, despite the fact that his part in that case was well known. Whether he was guilty or not wasn't the point.http://www.jokemonkey.com/pictures/stillretarded.jpgIf so, this board is comprised entirely of them. Quote
HoosierCat Posted February 23, 2007 Report Posted February 23, 2007 His admission that he's an alcoholic and what appears to be some honest facing of facts and accepting responsibility for his actions is some of the first positive signs we've seen out of Odell in a while. Maybe, just maybe, Marvin's tough love is starting to pay off and Odell might turn his life around. That's good news whether he ever plays for the Bengals again or not. Quote

In your original post, you acted as though connecting Ray Lewis with the term "murder" in any fashion is idiotic, despite the fact that his part in that case was well known. Whether he was guilty or not wasn't the point.Poor assumptions? In Whur's original post he states that Ray Lewis had committed murder and gotten away with it. I clearly did not infer that connecting Ray Lewis to the term murder in any fashion was idiotic. That sir, is a poor assumption. Stating as fact that the man had committed murder and gotten away with it is light years away from stating that he was involved in a murder investigation, which is the truth. Stating that Ray is guilty of murder is clearly not true. Whether he is guilty or not certainly is the point because Whur categorically stated the Ray Lewis committed murder and got away with it.People often perceive the written word in different ways and in my mind, Derek's post was an attempt to point out to me that I was wrong for taking exception to to Whur's ridiculous murder allegation. In addition, you state that you see no such implications and you would have stated it the same way and it would have meant something completely different then what I had perceived it to mean. However you failed to explain to me what he meant if he was not inferring that my taking exception to such a ridiculous claim was wrong. My bad, you already answered that question with the following:"In your original post, you acted as though connecting Ray Lewis with the term "murder" in any fashion is idiotic, despite the fact that his part in that case was well known"I most definately did not say that or imply it.Whur most definately did state that Ray Lewis had committed murder and gotten away with it. schweinhart Posted February 23, 2007 Report Posted February 23, 2007 Wonder if Ray Ray has been in contact with Odumb. Quote

Kirkendall Posted February 23, 2007 Report Posted February 23, 2007 In Hobson's latest, looks like the team is giving him support which would point to his return in '07.Indications out of Cincinnati are that the Bengals are staying in touch with Thurman during his stint in rehab.http://www.bengals.com/news/news.asp?story_id=5895 Quote

Kazkal Posted February 23, 2007 Report Posted February 23, 2007 Lewis didn’t close the door on middle linebacker Odell Thurman being reinstated July 11 a few days after he admitted to being an alcoholic when pleading no contest to a DUI. But Lewis, who said he has visited Thurman, isn’t planning on him as a football player and said the club is trying to get his life straightened out first. you can do it odell Quote
