Posted February 16, 2007 Report Posted February 16, 2007 Bengals | Houshmandzadeh to participate in league summitFri, 16 Feb 2007 09:03:22 -0800Geoff Hobson, of Bengals.com, reports Cincinnati Bengals WR T.J. Houshmandzadeh has been asked to participate in a summit next week in Indianapolis to assist NFL commissioner Roger Goodell counter the league's off-field woes. Houshmandzadeh will be one of a handful of players meeting with Goodell, NFLPA officials and team owners to discuss the increase in player arrests around the league. "I think it's been a problem for us from the standpoint of having to always answer the same questions over and over from the media," Houshmandzadeh said. "And it probably makes guys who are playing behind guys that get in trouble wonder what's going on."Good to hear. Let's figure something out fellas Quote
Stripes Posted February 16, 2007 Report Posted February 16, 2007 I'd be interested to see which other players will be participating. Quote
ThortonMelon Posted February 16, 2007 Report Posted February 16, 2007 This whole thing is so blown out of proportion by the media at least with respect to the Bengals. Basiscally a bunch of Bengals got busted for minor DUIs (no super reckless, super drunk DUIs) and small amounts of pot. Big freaking deal. Every team in the league has had at least one, most more than one, player arrested in the past year and a half. The Bengals happen to have a run of arrests, it doesnt mean that we are any different than any other team, just not as lucky this season. Is any team going to hesitate to sign Eric Steinbach in FA because he was arrested this year? Not a chance, because they have the exact same standards in selecting players as we do. Even the Patriots (the NFL poster boys for high moral fiber) were willing to take Corey Dillon (a 2 time wife beater and former drug dealer) and had a player (Jonathon Sulivan) arrested this season.Roger Goodell is a little bitch. After the Bengals' 7th arrest he grandstands in front of the meida by "offering his help" to the Bengals. The Chargers are now on their 8th arrest since April and there has been no grandstading statement about the Chargers from Goodell. Why? Because the media has largely ignored the Chargers problems and has focused almost entirely on the Bengals. Quote
ShulaSteakhouse Posted February 16, 2007 Report Posted February 16, 2007 More TJ. Less Chad. Wow, we agree on something. Quote
