Spor_tees
On CBS Charlie Casserly said that Cohwer actually recommended guys outside the organization and not Wiz or Grimm.

Questfor31
I thought Mike Martz would be the natural choice in Arizona.
Stripes
Whiz will probably want to improve the offensive line in Arizona. I'd say that makes a difference, but the Cardinals seem to suck no matter what the circumstances.

I thought he wanted to wait and see what Pittsburgh was going to do before making a move.I think the Rooney's blew this one. They were unwilling to commit anything to Whisenhunt, and in fact even went out and brought in Chan Gailey for an interview. I think in the end Whisenhunt screwed himself out of the Atlanta job with the 'I am waiting for the Steeler job' thinking, and he decided he couldn't afford to let another one go by, and then run the risk of having to stay with the Steelers as only a coordinator. We will never know if the Steelers really wanted him as their coach, but my bet is they did and miscalculated. Now I am hoping he truly ends up being some great coaching genius. duus
So duus...Handicap it for us....Who is the next coach of the Stealers in your opinion....Boy, now that's a tough one. We all know it's down to 3 guys: Grimm, Tomlin, and Rivera. Grimm is the simple choice. They already have a bunch of changes to deal with, but keeping Grimm will provide some thread of continuity. This choice also helps the golden boy Benji as he is the only offensive-minded guy on the short list. Finally, Grimm will probably come cheapest among the group.Tomlin is the next closest choice. He is a defensive-minded guy, and is eager for his first shot. He fits the prototype of Cowher when he started (34, d-coordinator, etc). The only problem with him is that is a Dungy guy, and seems to lean to the 4-3 and cover two ... two things that would be a change in Pissburgh, and might actually upset the cart on the LeBeau side.Rivera is the longshot if only because they might not get to talk to him again until February. I honestly think he is the best of the group and probably the best fit. His situation, combined with the Steelers needed to make a move soon, might just hurt him here.My best guess is Grimm ... or maybe that is a hope because I think he will be the worst of the group! If not Grimm, then Tomlin. If they do not make a move by this coming Sunday, then I might just lean toward them wanting to wait and talk to Rivera one last time.Best I can do at this point. Hoping for Grimm.
BengalszoneBilly
Now I am hoping he truly ends up being some great coaching genius. All he has to do to be considered a success out here in Arizona is get the team to a .500 record. Hell, at that point they'll be erecting statues of him in downtown Phoenix! duus
To follow-up on the "handicap us" request concerning the Steelers job:Latest news I am hearing is that the second interview with Tomlin went exceptionally well. In fact, it went so well, that it went well into the evening, with Tomlin being asked to order and pay for take-out Chinese food. Go figure.Anyway, what I am hearing locally tonight is that it is Tomlin's job. Handicapping? Not sure. But I'll put percentages on each in terms of likelihood to get the job:Tomlin - 60%Grimm - 30%Rivera - 10%I'm betting a new HC will be announced by Friday or Saturday at the latest. With that, it will surely be either Tomlin or Grimm. My bet is clearly on Tomlin at this point.

But just like Marvin, he'll get them to .500 and then the high expectations will kick in! No matter how terrible Arizona has been one good season and you are at the mercy of expectations. You go from messiah to underachieving real quick!Note: I never waiver on Marvin, but my expectations of course are higher now...... duus
And it looks like Whisenhunt is about to further raid the Steelers staff:"Whisenhunt has requested permission from the Steelers to speak with receivers coach Bruce Arians, presumably about the job as Cardinals' offensive coordinator. Arians, who is still under contract to the Steelers, has previous NFL coordinator experience. The Cardinals have also sought permission to interview two other Pittsburgh assistants, special teams coach Kevin Spencer and linebackers coach Keith Butler, for spots on Whisenhunt's staff. I suppose I understand the organizational side of things, but, man, would this stink if it happened to any of us! Imagine you have done a great job for the first 3 years of a 4 year contract and another company comes along and wants your services immediately, and they are willing to promote you and give you something like 2x your salary. Great! ... but you are not permitted to get the job ... not even interview for it ... because you are still under contract at your lower position. I know ... it's different in the NFL ... but should it be?
