The better team won, pretty obviously. The Buckeyes were dominated in the trenches all game long, and had no answer for Florida's speed and gameplan. The soft/deep zone coverage was completely ineffective as well, due to the absence of a pass rush. It was like watching the '06 Bengals/Colts game all over again.

My response too. I had been avoiding this forum because of all the blind buckeye love. This quote is my sentiment

It's a shame (sham?) that the best teams do not get to play. Once meatchicken was destroyed by USC I thought the buckeyes were in trouble. Is Florida the best team? I do not know.

They sure played like he took over as the coordinator. They played soft, they played timid, and they played scared. That is not a Jim Tressel team I remember. It was more like a John Cooper team that chokes in the big game. I hope to never see anything like that again.

Man, in more ways than one...that 3-man defensive front by OSU never had time to do anything and after about the 10th quick, short throw by Leak you'd have thought somebody would've figure out to stuff a 4th D-lineman in and bring the edge blitz from a DB on the side where the receivers clustered just to make Leak have to hitch or adjust his throw. Leak would've effed up more than once and it couldn't have been any worse than what happened. The Bucs kept showing blitz w/ their LBs up the middle before dropping at least one back into needless deep coverage. Leak is not much of a downfield thrower and would've effed up again there if OSU had been able to offer any kind of resistance to the short styuff.

And Troy Smith....That was rank. Not all his fault (kinda like Carson vs. Colts) but do something already. The QB has got the ball more than anybody else and if the gameplan blows chunks like OSU's did, do something else, which in Smith's case would've been to make like Pat White and split downfield virtually every play.

That was just a consummate a$$whipping last night and as outcoached as you'll see any team get. Urban Meyer made Tressel look clueless.

I'd say Tressel died by his own hand. Going for it on 4th down from your own 29 with almost two minutes left in the half was one of the dumbest coaching decisions I've seen in a very long time.

Not that I minded much. I bet against the Buckeyes and will pocket a cool $100 the next time I see my brother-in-law.

To me they are national champs!!!! YEAH RIGHT!!!! After all the grief that I have received in here all season for saying that OSU was overrated and that they didnt play anyone, I think that was proven last night!!!!! Troll me if you wish, but overrated is very fitting after last nights 83 yard performance or whatever it was!!!! I also said the Heisman jinx would hit Troy Smith and....... well........ IT DID!!!! The few times the Buckeyes actually did blitz, Florida seemed to have blockers ready in perfect position. It was unreal how lopsided the game was in every way. I thought a little man coverage would have been a good idea, but I doubt Tressel had implemented much of that scheme into the defense anyways.

As for Troy Smith, I'm torn on what to think about his game. Often times he simply had nowhere to go, as the blindside tackle was worthless all game long. Still, I caught him a few times holding onto the ball despite having open receivers ad libbing as he ran around. A lot of the struggles were his fault, IMO.

What you fail to remember, and I know that I have mentioned it to you before, the Canes had 4 more chances to STOP the Buckeyes from scoring and FAILED!!!! And then your beloved Canes had equal chance to score and send the game into a third overtime and again, FAILED!!!! With that in mind, the Buckeyes EARNED the 2002 National Championship and everone in America KNOWS IT!!! Now you NEED TO GET OVER IT!!!!

That's just the point, in a desperate situation like the one Ohio State faced the smarter choice is to play a field position game and attempt to survive the final minutes before halftime. Punt the ball away and hope you can limit the damage before making halftime adjustments. Be conservative. Don't put yourself in a position where one bad play can cause you to lose the game in the 1st half.

As for kicking my brother-in-law when he's down? The bet was his idea as he predicted the Buckeye's would destroy Florida and he even gave me ten points to entice me to bet on a Florida team that I had argued possessed enough team speed to stay with Ohio State. To be quite honest, I didn't expect Florida to crush OSU, but I thought they could keep it close and if the breaks went their way could even win outright. All things considered I'm not sure I can claim I called things correctly, but I'll soon have 100 bucks that prove I called it close enough.

BTW, nothing feels better than taking money from a family member.

How does the chant go OOOOVEEEERRRR RATED!!!!!! Nice job by the Bucks beating up a weak schedule, see at least when the Canes had a weak schedule for a lot of years they won the title!!!! Garrett Wolfe exposed this team in the first game of the season, after what he alone did in that game, wow, I knew then OSU was not going to do squat this year, and Bowling Green and the mighty Cincy Bearcats Im sure were tough along with NIU!!!! I will say this, the Bucks were good this year at beating crappy teams!!!!! Lump Texas into that as well!!!!!
