This offseason will be better than last years

Adelius Thomas would be a good start, and another LB or CB or DT/DE with the first pick. :)

A center/guard or TE in FA or in the 2nd round wouldn't be too shabby either.

TE is not a need, we saw all the production out af any TE we will ever have this season. With Tab coming back next year, taking some of the TE's catches from them drafting a TE would be a bigger waste than resigning Akili.

Well, if I may be the first to say here is how I would approach FA in the offseason.

1) resign most of our RFA's,(Andrews, Geather's, Miller, Johnson, and Shaun Smith)

2)Resign a Few UFA's(Reggie Kelly, Kenny Watson, Doug Johnson, KK, Marcus Wilkins) -none of these will break the bank and would fill quality depth.

3) I would let Justin Smith and Eric Steinbach walk- they are not worth 5mm per year, and the $$ could be used to address other areas of the defense. Whitworth can replace Steinbach, and we drafted Rucker in the 3rd round in 06, and will draft another DE in 07, so let the younger guys have it. Also we will get good Comp picks in 08's draft by letting these guys go (former 1st and 2nd round picks)

4)BE AGGRESSIVE IN FREE AGENCY- we will be in good shape under the cap and can afford a few free agents who are difference makers, so here's my guys:

a)Robaire Smith- he forms a solid middle rotation with Peko, Adams, S.Smith- we finally have a replacement for Thornton.

b)Grey Reugamer-good backup center that will allow us to move Wilkinson to the Guard slot.

c)Na'il Diggs-solid LB who will give us better pursuit and solid tackling.

d) draft day trade with Washington. We trade Odell for Adam Archuleta and allow him to play FS and move Madieu to the other corner spot

5) The Draft

I look at every position on the defensive side of the ball, as well as TE/Qb/and OL on offense.

WHA!?

Luckily for any resident Odell fanboys, the Redskins would laugh that trade proposal out of the building.

Agreed. I can certainly see the Bengals attempting to move Odell but not to Washington for AA.

I could see this happening, although the fact that I own an Odell jersey makes me hope it does not. AA is not even starting in Washington. I think the coaches there do not like his coverage abilities. He also comes with a large contract so they might want to get him out of there. I am not sure though if Williams is the best choice at CB.

P.S. I saw Dexter Jackson out the TGI Fridays in Loveland the Tuesday before the Steelers game. Funny thing was that my friend and I were sitting almost right next to him and my friend was talking trash about the Bengals (their Defense in particular) for about forty minutes before we realized who it was.

I'm pretty sure Archuleta lost his starting job about midway through the season due to miserable play and nagging injuries that aren't going away....ever. He's a shadow of the player he used to be, and his ridiculously large contract includes a roster bonus that will force the Redskins to cut him before next season.

I live in the D.C. area and read an article as to what happened. He lost his starting position without any true explanation except they did not like his pass cover technique and wanted him to change it. The coaching staff did not offer any suggestions to improve his technique. Plus, he was known more as a run support safety in St. Louis but Washington wanted him more involved in pass coverage. The feeling around here is he will be released at some point this off season. My opinion, for what it is worth, is the Redskins to change something that didn't need changing. So rather then use his assets to help the defense play better, they benched him instead. I think he would be an asset for the Bengals in supporting the run defense with Dexter Jackson. He is big, fast and not afraid to hit someone in the mouth. With the Bengals current defensive situation, anything will help.
