Jenty isn't a long term starter for the Bengals. The entire group didn't distinguish themselves this year and I expect two new starters next year. Marvin has drafted at least 6 line backers with nearly all first day picks. Having lost two of them, I expect linebacker will be a position of focus for Marvin in 2007.

Only problem: the rest of the defense is also putrid and/or old, and we have 2 1st day oicks. Fun, huh?

He proved he is really talented. He is rookie and played better and smarter than any other linebacker on our squad. He is the only LB besides Brooks that stands people up. Once Brooks learns how to play smart, he will be unblievable. Jeanty is a upgrade from Landon. Landon misses way too many tackles, landon and Simmons need to be cut. If Caleb can stay healthy. I say we keep him as a back-up.

Definitely keep him. He was a benefit vs. the run and showed some short area coverage skills. But he's definitely a strongside backer. Don't think he ever did do like Pollack and rush down in passing situations but Jumpy took up that slack. Regardless, Jeanty showed he can do enough at the position to be a starter if no one better than him emerges.

Be interesting to know just how much he blitzed but he was usually out in the nickel. Like to see a SSLB who they could blitz, though, but not gonna happen when there's 3 or more wides unless the Bengals go to a 3-man front on passing downs. They did that more in 2005 than last year.

I also was surprised they rarely sent Jeanty on the blitz. That was his claim to fame in Canada, but apparently they saw something else they liked about him. I thought he was alright, but nothing to throw a parade over.

He was OK for a rook, but did not blitz alot...theres no way the get rid of LJohnson...

He looked solid most of the time, LB's is going to be an interesting position this offseason. I am not as convinced as some that Odell is done in Cinci, will Simmons be back, Johnson and miller are both FA's are they not, Brooks showed strong early and nothing late.

Chucky would rather blitz someone that can't tackle like Tory James than blitz Jeanty or JJo.

And during the same play he'd drop Justin Smith into zone coverage, with Ratliff one-on-one against the fastest receiver on the field.

Do you guys think he could move to WLB? if we picked up a mlb or slb in this years draft?

Well, we won't need a MLB because Odell will be back. WLB seems like it would be a good spot for Jeanty, he looked real good this year. Not as good as Odell in '05, but pretty solid. Better than Landon Johnson.
