Are we regretting our recent picks?

Recommended Posts

Lets see, 2004 Draft we had the 17th pick overall and traded it to Denver for their 1st round and Deltha O'neal. Then we traded even further down and drafted Chris Perry. I was shocked, to be honest with yoy, but had hoped Marvin knew what he was doing. Turns out that pick has been a BUST due to his injury problems. I love Perry, but he hasn't shown me what he could of done on the field.

Chris Perry---1st Round...should of been late 2nd-early 3rd.

Keiwan, enough said. This guy just flat out SUCKS. I knew it right when we drafted him. Even Florida fans knew he sucked.

Keiwan---2nd Round...should of been a 5th-6th rounder.

The biggest mistake of them all...Odell Thurman. Let's see I was Pimping Channing Crowder during the 2005 NFL Draft because he was a physical, dominating football player. You all were saying, "Oh he is so slow, he runs a 4.7 40"(which is not slow at all), and "He carries baggage, he is a disaster waiting to happen", and saying about how his knee is messed up. You all were saying how great Odell was, and that he had had a few run ins with the law in the pass, but he is a good boy now. Odell was taken in the second round, Channing to the Dolphins in the early third. Odell had a great rookie season. So did Crowder. But while Crowder was out working on improving his game, Odell was out smoking weed, and skipping drug tests. Now Crowder has turned into one of the NFL's rising Defensive stars, while staying healthy, and being a good boy even doing charity work. Odell is sitting on his couch, getting fatters and prob. smoking weed and drinking and driving. Don't you wish you had Crowder now?crowder2.jpgcrowder.jpg

Marvin's drafts have definitely been a mixed bag. Looking back...

2003:

Hits: Carson (duh), Scott Kooistra (solid backup tackle in the 7th :sure:), Jeremi Johnson

Wiffs: Weathersby, Abdullah, Moore, Patterson

Disappointments: Steinbach (has backslid ever since excellent rookie year)

Busts: Washington.

2004:

Hits: Madieu Williams, Robert Geathers, Landon J., C. Miller.

Wiffs: Askew, Brooks, Mann, Bramlet

Incomplete: The Dancing Bear

Busts: C. Perry, Ratliff

2005:

Hits: Hmmm. Uh...well...drawing a blank here. Maybe Chris Henry if he straightens out. I'll be generous and throw in Bluto here, he may not end up a starter but should be decent depth, and he was just a 4th rounder.

Wiffs: Keift

Incomplete: T. Perry, D. Pollack, Fanene

Busts: Odell

Cant judge '06 yet, but it isn't looking too bad. Joseph, Whitworth, Peko and Kilmer look like keepers. Brazell and McNeal...who knows at this point? Problem children Rucker and Nicholson could go either way.

The fact that many of us, myself included, hated Crowder as a pick had nothing to do with our opinion of Odell as a pick.

We hated Crowder as a r1 pick (which is what you saw him as) in no small part due to his injury issues. Fact of the matter is that no NFL team liked him as a risk until r3. Had he lasted until r4, I have no doubt the Bengls might well have said "that's a low enough slot to take a chance that he'll beat the injury bug and produce for us".
