Whur CHad At?
I have always liked Mike Singletary, because he has the knowledge and passion to lead a defense. But, with Jim Mora being fired I am starting to think we should nab him before he is taken.
Spor_tees
Despite the fact they just got shlacked by USC, Ron English, Michigan's Defensive Coordinator should become a good candidate. It seems like every year Michigan has a top notch defense despite losing guys to the pros.

But, with Jim Mora being fired I am starting to think we should nab him before he is taken.Yeah, it's occurred to me too. Speculation (read: PFT) says that Mora's comments on-air about ditching any NFL gig at any time for the UW job might keep him out of the league in the short-term. He's never struck me as the TV type either, so I figure we're as good as any other team to grab him for a DC job. He needs to stay in the league, it's sometimes hard to get back in once you've been out (apparantly unless you run a bed-and-breakfast). walshfan
Why would Marvin want to fire Bresnahan?? I think Bres runs the schemes that Lewis wants him to and takes the heat for it....What better scenario to have than that?

If Marvin's "scheme" is called "run the same blitz over and over", then he definitely isn't the defensive genius, the reputation of which got him the job. HoosierCat
I mentioned this in the coaches-getting-fired thread on the NFL board but it may bear repeating here:Back in '03, Marvins first choice for defensive coordinator was Falcons assisstant Emmitt Thomas. Bio here: http://www.atlantafalcons.com/team/coachBio.jsp?id=1921The Falcons refused to let Marvin interview him for the position. But with Mora out, Thomas could be headed out the door too. Depends on how much housecleaning whoever they hire is going to do. Anyhow, I have to think Thomas would be at the top of any list...if indeed Marvin makes a change. I'd prefer someone a tad younger Although, I do like what he did with the falcons secondary in his first year as the secondary coach, 31st pass defense in the NFL in 2001 to 16th in 2002. Sounds like exactl what the bengals could use!

volcom69
Im not sure that marvin is going to let Bres go he said there is not going to be any major coaching changes, so im not sure he is leting him go which is bull. I would also like to see Henderson in here i think he would make a great def coach, he loves to blitz and get pressure. I will be very pissed if marvin dosnt let Chuck go what a joke for a def cordinator, i never wanted to see someone leave so bad.

I agree, right now it doesn't look like there will be a change but give it a little time.

Spor_tees
What about seeing if the Bengals can bring in Dom Capers?
duus
I know many may find this a bit of a reach, but I think one name that might very well move up to the 'coordinator' ranks in the next couple years is Darren Perry (current DB coach of Steelers). He was obviously in Cincy with LeBeau. He sure seems to be a quality coach, and word has it that he may very well be next in line behind LeBeau, whenever he decides to call it quits. He has played in the 3-4, and coached it for several years. Should we really be considering such a scheme change (not sure with the suspension and injuries), he might be a guy to consider. Has the knowledge, experience, and we would be ripping off the big divisional foe in the process. Just a thought.
agreen_112
They will stick with bresh no doubt. Someone in the front office should really step up and just admit that we need a change. If bresh stays, we'll suck again. He's terrible and will not get better..
CBin2k7
If the defense continues to stink next year and Bres is still around, well Marvin will have cost himself some major supporters. He almost has to go Jack Del Rio and make changes to say that 8-8 is not acceptable around here anymore. He has got to hold his coaching staff accountable, most have been here for 4 years and the Bengals have been mediocre for 3 of those years.I love Marvin to death, but this year is a make or break year for him. I hope he realizes that, maybe he needs to be on the hot seat.
walzav29
When is the last time Marvin was honest with the press or fans? Warrick and Braham's leg bruises, everyone is innocent, Les is great, and many many more. I don't want Marv to go anywhere, but Chuck is a goner. skyline
It's been mentioned once or twice in passing, but I'll bring it up again. What if we could possibly steal Lebeau back from the Steelers? I'd be 100% for it.

What if we could possibly steal Lebeau back from the Steelers? I'd be 100% for it.He's a Cincy guy, and has worked with Marvin, but I cannot imagine how in the world that would work out. Comes back to work under Marvin after being fired in favor of Marvin? Doubt they would do that ... or even if he would do that. Related, I expect the guy to retire sometime in the near future. If not now, sometime in the next year or two.
