HoosierCat
From Hobson...for our two "wild card" games, we host Vince Young & the Titans and...again...head off to friggin' Arrowhead. Hold on to your helmet, Carson... EASIER SKED: The Bengals have an easier schedule for 2007, but not by much. Their foes have won a combined eight fewer games with 131, just off the 139 that gave them and the New York Giants the toughest schedule heading into this season. The Bengals play the AFC East, including home games against the playoff-bound Patriots and Jets and games at sub-.500 Buffalo and Miami. They also play the NFC West and have a road game at division champion Seattle. When the dust cleared Sunday, the Bengals' two AFC wild card games turned out to be a home game against the 8-8 Titans and the third straight year they play the playoff-bound Chiefs on the road. Those games came virtue of the Bengals second-place finish in the AFC North matched with the second-place finishes of Tennessee and Kansas City. CBin2k7
I would say the schedule is easier, but there is no telling until the season starts next year and you see what teams have. Can the Bengals beat Buffalo for the first time in like 15/16 years. Playing in Seattle will be very difficult. Depending on the date, the trip to Miami will not be a fun game. This team has to learn how to take care of business at home. Something that fat face Sharpe said last night on TV was right on point. How can you be a playoff team if you are just .500 at home? This team doesn't defend their homefield very well, and they tend to play flat at home every chance they get.
delhole
Screw the winning % of all the opponents combined. The AFC East is the most complete division top to bottom. There's no "cakewalks" next season except the browns and cardinals. We don't play as many division champs as in 06' (2 compared to 4 in '06, not including the ravens) but it's not the big guys that scare me when it comes to the bengals. It's .400 to .600 teams like tenn., buffalo, and especially miami and kansas city away. And traveling to the west coast never bodes well for the bengals and we have 2 trips to make next year Oh well it's way to early to start worrying...... None of them looked particularly inspiring in a weak NFC. On paper, this looks like our easiest sched in a few years, but as always that means little given the annual reversal of fortune in the NFL. oldschooler
Here are the schedules for all of the AFC North teams in 2007, minus times and dates.Of course I`m not counting division games...BengalsHome: Patriots, Jets, Cards, Rams, TitansAway: Bills, Dolphins, 49ers, Seahawks, ChiefsBrowns Home: Bills, Dolphins, 49ers, Seahawks, TexansAway: Patriots, Jets, Cards, Rams, RaidersRavens2007Home: Patriots, Jets, Cards, Rams, ColtsAway: Bills, Dolphins, 49ers, Seahawks, ChargersStealersHome: Bills, Dolphins, 49ers, Seahawks, JaguarsAway: Patriots, Jets, Cards, Rams, BroncosThe entire NFL`s next 3 years of scheduling...I didn't add the 3 common division opponents (waste of time since you already know that you play them every year once at home and once on the road). You can also see the two teams in each division are paired together and follow opposite home and road schedules from the other two pairs in the division. Anyway, you can see that there are only 2 unknowns (1 at the end of each home and away line). These teams are matched by the previous years standings. Lets take the first team (Bills) as an example. IF the bills take last place in the division THIS season and the Raiders and Houston take last place THIS season, then you can see that the Bills will Host the Raiders in 2007 and Travel to Houston in 2007....NOTE: This was published a few years back on NFL.com by the league along with an article explaining the new 32 team balanced schedule that replaced the old Strength of schedule method. This will not change through 2009. The league will be voting this offseason whether to stick with the balanced schedule, after 2009.Bills/Dolphins2007Home: Ravens, Bengals, Cowboys, Giants, AFC West TeamAway: Browns, stealers, Eagles, BengalPimp
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- What makes any of you think that those teams will not 1) lose some key players to free-agency2) Suffer some key injuries(hey it happened to us this year)3) meltdown, and not live up to the expectations(even if they have the same key players) it happened to the steelers.4) Suffer suspensions via conduct/drugs/arrestsmy point is, to worry about how difficult or easy next years schedule might be, is pointless right now, because we wont know until the summer whether or not those teams have gotten stronger or weaker as a result of injuries/free-agency/the draft/Coaching Changes. We also dont know how much we will have improved either.
HairOnFire
That's a brutal schedule that may be even tougher than the one they played this season. The AFCN is always tough, but the Bengals are built to beat those teams and have done so very well despite the fact that the Steelers were crowned champions last season, and the Ravens may be this year. But it's the games played outside of the division that give me concern, At home they'll play two playoff teams, the Patriots and the Jets, as well as two teams that just missed qualifying for the postseason with the Rams and Titans. The latter team was one of the hottest teams in the NFL at seasons end, and will likely be even better next season. The away schedule features two more teams that finsihed very strong this season in the Bills and 49'ers, and two more playoff teams with the Seahawks and Chiefs. That's nasty. ArmyBengal
Hey all...Forget the teams we play next year... No changes in the coaches means more of the same to me for next season. I hate Bresnahan and I can't say as I'm a real fan of Brat either. What makes anyone think our defense will be any better than this years ?? No Odell, No Pollack, who knows with Tory and Deltha, and they just suck... To tell you the truth, I don't think getting rid of Bresnahan would matter. Our defense blows !!! I think it will blow next year and maybe even another year after that. Don't get me wrong, I hope things turn around, but I don't see it. SOOOOOO, as for the schedule, as much as I hate to say it, 8-8 or 9-7 might be about right. Argue all you want, but most saw us winning 11 this season as well...Did I mention I HATE our f*cking defense ??Take care all !!!WHODEY !!!
