Carson just on Dan Patrick Show

Carson Palmer was just interviewed by Dan Patrick on ESPN Radio.

Topics discussed....

Carson said his shoulder was fine, and wasn't sure where the rumor came from. He claimed that the Bengals simply game him a day of rest, and Palmer participated fully in practice the following day.

Palmer said the Bengals weren't concerned about the bad weather in Denver. And get this, he also claimed that the Bengals lack of an indoor practice facility helps the team prepare to play in bad weather games.

Palmer said that a player spitting on an opponent isn't the worst thing a player can do on the field. Instead, he said that a player deliberately attempting to injure another player was far worse. In response, Patrick said nothing.

Palmer said that he felt bad that TJ didn't make the Pro Bowl, and seriously hopes that Chad turns down the bid if it means TJ gets named in his place. Patrick asked him if he was serious and Palmer repeated that he was.

Palmer admitted that Tom Brady is a better QB than he is at this stage of his career, and added that most Pro Bowl berts are determined by past reputation or simple stats, and he thinks he got the nod solely because his numbers were better.

Palmer says Chad wasn't fined for wearing those "ugly shoes" during pregame warmups because Chad took them off after being warned. He added that in his four years with the Bengals he's come to expect a little bit of drama from Chad every week.

Palmer admitted the Bengals weren't a great team yet, just a good one that can't seem to put together a full season of great games. He claimed the team had the potential to be an elite team, but hadn't come close to reaching that standard yet.

Finally, Palmer admitted that it took him several regular season games to put the idea of defenders falling around his legs completely out of his mind. He called the flashes of colors and movement that you see out of "the corner of your eyes"...phantom players, and admitted that it bothered him.

Dan Patrick then ended the interview without asking Palmer a single question about the plethora of legal headlines being a possible distraction. No matter, as soon as Palmer was off the line Patrick climbed atop a well worn soapbox and insisted that it had to be....just because.

So...why didn't Brady go over Phil Rivers? Of the four, are not Rivers' numbers the worst? Why is Carson being made the lesser of the candidates?

13 fumbles.

Good stuff, right there.

Really, 13 fumbles? That's what they are fixing on? How about how damn good job he has done behind a line that has been sieve-like all year due to injury while coming off of a devastating knee injury?

I know, I think he deserves to be there too. I don't know why Clayton and the rest seem to be targeting Palmer rather than Rivers in the Brady debate, and that's all I can think of.

It's just a guess, but I'm betting the question was put to Palmer because he was actually on the phone. Put Rivers in the same position and I'm guessing he gets his own chance to answer the exact same question.

I'm betting the question comes up not because a Pro Bowl argument can't be made for Palmer or Rivers, but because many observers feel Tom Terrific was snubbed, and in order for room to be made for Brady another QB has to be torn down....and it won't be Peyton Manning.

Media Hype, thats it. Its ridiculous for anybody to question Carson being there. Going into Monday Nights game vs Indy he was the highest rated passer in the NFL.

Compare some of the numbers.... passer rtg yards TD INT

Carson Palmer-------96.9--------3,575-------24-------11

Philip Rivers----------91.5--------2,976-------18--------8

Tom Brady-----------86.1--------3,055-------22--------12

Anybody who says Brady or Rivers deserve to go instaed of Carson, is a Crackhead :crack:

I didn't get to hear Palmer on Dan Patrick's show... but every other radio show I've listened to has singled out Rivers, not Palmer as the guy who shouldn't be there (almost always citing that Rivers has LT and Gates, and Brady has a bunch of nobody's). Perhaps we're a bit touchy after a s**tty game on Monday night... but I think some of us are just looking for analysts to vent our frustration on.

Don't worry. After we put Denver in their place in a few days, things will seem rosy again.
