jjakq27
Make it stop. On the SUnday night game, Madden, Michaels and Andrea Kramer are belaboring the hit that Robert Geathers put on Trent Green in Week 1. Ms. Kramer let us know that Green was not happy with the hit and she also talked to the league about their plans to review it during the offseason. What they didn't mention was that Green had scrambled several times and did not go down to give himself up. He also started his slide late as Geathers was getting nudged in the back by a KC player.Thankfully Michaels mentioned that no penalty was called and no fine was levied by the league the next week. 101Airborne
I think that after what happened with Palmer in the playoffs, the Bengals have more right to complain than anyone. There was no way Geather's hit was dirty or illegal, so if the same holds true for Kimo, everyone needs to just stfu and play football. Every year, their president Carl Peterson bitches and moans about something. Last year he was trying to get the playoffs expanded since his Chiefs have often been among the "next out" teams lately. So he complains. This year it'll be the Trent Green thing.Problem for him is that the league office was crystal clear on this when they reviewed it. I'm sure Peterson and Trent Green figure it's reasonable to expect 300 lb men to stop and change direction while mid-air, but fortunately the league office understands physics slightly better. The idiotic thing is that Green should be thanking Jumpy. If he hadn't made such an obvious effort (obvious to anyone not on the Chiefs) not to hit Green helmet-to-helmet with his full momentum, I truly believe he could possibly have killed Green on the field with that hit. A**holes.I like Andrea Kramer but she made it sound like it was some kind of scoop. It's week 15, Andrea and the hit happened in week 1.I just hate this kind of reporting because it isn't always accurate since they aren't around every day. How about we stop calling him Jumpy? That's not his name or his nickname. Anyone on here who does that ... do you have an uncle? Should people just start arbitrarily start calling you by his name?A little thing, but it's just stupid.
HoosierCat
How about we stop calling him Jumpy? That's not his name or his nickname.Yeah, I've seen him whining about that, too. Well, I got some sad news for Jumpy Jr.: Ya don't get to pick your nickname. That's why it's a nickname. I've had my share, some I cared for, some I didn't. Life is full of such arduous trials. But I've found that...somehow...you muddle through. If fans think so much of you as to compare you favorably to your widely respected uncle...well, take it for the compliment it is. derekshank
How do you think Henry feels about the nickname we've given him... "Cheech." You know... somehow, I don't care whether he likes it or not. I like calling Geathers Jumpy Jr, and I'll do it as long as I feel like it.P.S. It's a shame that Geathers plays for the Bengals. Had he been on a team that didn't have 8 arrests, this story would have been buried long ago... but we're quickly getting a reputation for being "dirty."One positive note: We're not considered in the same class with the Raiders yet. I live close enough to Chicago to get a lot of their sports radio... and they've been talking a lot about the Tank Johnson saga. I've heard multiple comments from Bears fans about him looking good in a Raiders uniform... not a single comment about the Bengals. Geez! We can't be the best at anything! C'mon Henry... You've been slacking lately!
membengal
Chiefs ought to be thanking us. Huard has been their better quarterback this year, and if Green hadn't been out, they apparently wouldn't have been in it as long as they were... So, youre saying that it should be a compliment that he is compared to his uncle, rather than his Father who he is actually named after? Well, I guess thats a Double-Slap to his Dad's face, 1) that he wasnt a good enough player, and 2) that his name sucks.....Sorry, But I can see why he doesnt like being called Jumpy Jr. I'm sure he loves his uncle, but thats like disrespecting his dad. The refs were probably warned to look for anything excessive from the Bengals after that. Also, it amazes me how often threads and topics get derailed around here. Maybe, but for me the thing that jumps out is the fact that after reviewing the play the powers that be determined that Trent Green was at fault for sliding late. I agreed completely, but the decision to blame Green is pretty amazing when you consider that the story of this NFL season may be the way the NFL has gone out of it's way to protect QB's by throwing a storm of very questionable roughing the passer flags.
