tory james is a really nice guy i have met tory james once and he was an awsome guy he waited for me while i went back home so to grab my jersey and get it signed by him... but sadly kind acts dont do much on the footballl field... I figure what will soon happen is we will move delta back to his cb position, joseph takes over for tory and we keep tory as a nickleback as a veteran while we pick up another cb in the draft

I was looking at the drive charts from the game...

1st Half one drive 63 yard (end of 2nd qtr)

2nd half (2 drives end of 4th qtr) 55 and 63 yards

This accounts for 181 yards of the 316 total yard the Ravens gained.

The last 2 drives in garbage time, 118 yards. Wow.

Not sure what this means to me yet, except that I was very impressed with the play of our defense last night, and at the same time I saw alot of room for improvement, McNair's big run to get the first on 3rd and a mile, the 40 yard td with the uncalled PI...

That is pretty impressive, especially since we are very much the grasshopper and not the master, so to speak.

I want to see this defensive intensity and RESULTS EVERY minute of EVERY GAME.

Just like Sam said, you cannot play football for 59 minutes!

But this is definitely better than what we saw in the San Diego fiasco. :D

Let's you and I start a "Bengals Defense Fan Club." I'd much rather have a team with a defensive squad that simply CRUSHES the other teams offense day in and day out rather than depending on the offense to have to score 30+ points just to hopefully get a win. :bengal:

  • 2 weeks later...

Well... that is 3 straight impressive games on defense. I have to admit that it isn't lucky to string 3 good games in a row, giving up only 17 total points. Yes... the offenses we faced were ranked 23rd, 29th, and 32nd, but we kept them that way. That's all you can ask.

So... am I a believer? Not just yet. Yes, we're giving up only 8.3 points a game over the last 4 weeks, but giving up 600 yards to New Orleans still causes me to wake up in a cold sweat.

What will it take to make me a believer? Like I've said before... hold Indy under 350 yards and 28 points. Those aren't unrealistic expectations... and it certainly isn't too much to ask from a "playoff contending" defense. If we do that, I'll admit our defense is good enough to get us into a Super Bowl... but I'll believe it when I see it.

I haven't been watching many games since training started, but minus the game against the Ravens, wins over Cleveland and Oakland are hardly worthy of much joy outside of the fact we just didn't lose. Don't get me wrong, I love seeing more than solid performances, but I'll be happier coming away from Indy and Denver with wins !!! Gotta love Jumpy Jr. !!!

Take care all !!!

WHODEY !!!
