K2 pick in end zone. Better late than never. Brees only got about 250 yds. throwing in 1st half but threw 2 end zone picks otherwise the Bengals would be getting their backsides handed to them rather than leading by 3 pts.

where was the playcalling/making from last week?

jesus, this is the most inconsistent bengal team I've ever seen. At least when we were bad, we were consistently bad.

we shouldnt be winning with the way we've played. and the way the saints D is playing today, if we played like last week, we'd be blowing them out.

And the Bengals' defense still sucks.

They've been OK today...it's the O that went poof.

OK, yeah right, 250 yards passing in one half is not ok. They have been lucky.

Almost a third of which came on 1 play. Bottom line is they held NO to 7 points and gave the O two opportunities with turnovers...which our crappy O coverted into 3 whole points.

Halftime reflections:

Without having quite the emotional investment of previous games, I've been checking out the D with a little bit of objectivity.

The obvious:

Tory James should retire from the NFL.

Caleb Miller just doesn't have the talent/size/speed to play backer (big play involvement aside). Maybe some kind of SS type hybrid.

Justin Smith is not worth the money to bring him back. In fact, I would say it's time to give Shaun Smith and Peko as much time as possible to get them ready for next year. I'm really upset about Rucker going down because it would be nice to get some PT for our replacement DE/DT's.

Other thoughts:

Madieu seems to have gotten some of the aggressiveness back.

Defense played a lot worse than the score reflects. The difference in defense between last year and this is perfectly displayed by the three turnovers that we've been missing. The difference in O is demonstrated by the inability to turn them into points.

Given that we've adjusted so poorly coming out of halftimes, I've got low confidence about the second half. I'm more worried about our inability to score than the D at this point, because TO's come in bunches and I have the feeling we'll get more.

yeah i think the score is a misrepresentation of our defense today. we've given up 300 yards offense in the first half.

we've been VERY lucky.
