Odell Thurman Persona Non Grata

Has anyone noticed that Odell Thurman is persona non grata in Cincinnati? It is like he never existed. Even the media seems to be loathe to utter his name. Wouldn't you think that such a previously rising star would garner more interest? I mean look at Keith Urban. He has a press conference from rehab. MoCLo did an interview from prison. What is going on? Does this guy have any representation, or has he secretly burned all his bridges, or is now lying under one high on crack.

I feel bad for the guy. What a wasted talent and life.

Very strange indeed in this over-saturated media world we live in.

I'll add a somewhat oddball comment.

As you all know, the drunk driving incident occured in the East End, I believe on Kellogg Avenue. Recently, a restaurant called the Country Inn, located on Kellogg more or less right across the street from the UDF on the sw corner of Lunken Airfield, was renamed to "Odell's Sports Bar"

I kid you not.

I have no idea if this is someone's idea of a bad joke or if the naming is purely coincidental

I am driving home that way today just to see if you are BSing this or not. Maybe he decided to invest in a line of work he has passion for.

I'm curious to see if he asks for the early reinstatement so he can be in the spring camps and if so, how the organization would take to his request...

WHODEY !!!

I'm sure he will if he plans on playing football again, isen't it up too the nfl not the organization? I figure they'd improve of it anyways either see what they have left with odell or able cut him asap.

The media is simply following the lead of the football team being covered, and on that score the team is far too busy focusing on the day-to-day things that it can control. There's simply no time to waste on a player who for all practical purposes has temporarily died.

That said, wait for the offseason because I'm guessing it'll be Odell-icous.

With some recent 1 year suspensions from other players... I have noticed at the end of the line it says "So and So can File for Reinstatement on Blah Date"

When ESPN broke the Odell case/1year suspension - They never said anything about applying for reinstatement or anything. I believe he is just suspended for the year, not banned for the year. So he shouldn't have to file for reinstatement with the NFL.

Unfortunately I have to agree with you. I just want it to go away... but I fear it won't. It will continue to haunt the Bengals, and there will be a cloud over Cincinnati regarding the number of "criminals" in the organization two off-seasons in a row.

At first I didn't think our "character issues" would impact the on-the-field product... but given the high number of incredibly ridiculous penalties against us, I'm beginning to think that the bad-guy perception that most of the league views us with is leaking into the result of the games.

P.S. I would tend to think that I was just being paranoid... but a non-Bengal fan pointed out to me that he believed this was the case.

Well, I'm not sure what to say other than several weeks ago my Raven buddy laughingly claimed that the Justin Smith roughing the passer penalty in the Tampa Bay loss was a case of the officials attempting to even things up in regards to the hit on Trent Green.

<_<
